It wasn't God's purpose in the beginning for animals to be eaten as we can see from Genesis. After the flood for whatever reason, possibly for health reasons, God allowed animals to be eaten. Many people do not do well on a long-term vegetarian diet--myself included, I would want to not eat animals and I've tried but I found I have to have meat, especially beef for my health. There are scriptures in the bible that show that God intends to bring things back to his original purpose for humans and the earth, including animals not being eaten (see Isaiah 11:6-9). However, this passage in is not supporting vegetarianism. When Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, took some of the nobles' children of the Israelites after conquering Israel, to train in the Babylonian ways-- being one of them--he fed them things which considered delicasies, would be forbidden for Jews, and and his three companions took a stand by not eating them, and eating vegetables instead, which were safe. Other bible versions for verse 8: 'delicasies of the king'- NWT, 'king's dainties'-WEB, 'king's dainties'-ASV, 'king's delicate food' 'king's food'-WBS. It's more likely that they did so well on this diet because of God's blessing on their stand, than that the vegetables themselves were better for them. Guest guest
> > Since one can eat meat (under some passages) but blood is > forbidden, the bible must have a particular meaning to this. > Blood is sacred to God, the life he gave is in the blood: Gen 9:4 " Only flesh with it's soul--its blood--you must not eat. " Lev. 17:14 " For the soul of every sort of flesh is its blood by the soul in it. Consequently I said to the sons of Israel: 'You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the soul of every sort of flesh is in its blood. " Lev. 7:26,27 " And you must not eat any blood in any places where you dwell, whether that of fowl or that of beast. Any soul who eats any blood, that soul must be cut off from his people. " Acts 15:28,29 " For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. "
Guest guest
Sorry for joining the conversation late (and not knowing what transpired in the thread).... I read a book called the " Maker's Diet " . It's a diet based on the Bible. It's basically a Kosher version of the Weston A Price diet. It's far from being a vegetarian diet. I pretty much try to follow the Weston A Price diet - properly prepared natural foods and an adequate intake of fat and fat soluble vitamins. http://www.makersdiet.com/ http://www.westonaprice.org/ Dan > Date: Wed, 08 Mar 2006 14:39:14 -0000 > From: environmental1st2003 > Subject: Re: 'Natural' Diet > > Not that I know of. > > Tom > Administrator > > > > I am getting confused with this whole topic - out of interest > was Jesus a vegetarian? > > >
Guest guest
" There are no universal diet rules that will have the same effect on everyone. Some guidance can be found in Ayur-Veda, whttp://health.indiamart.com/ayurveda/tridosha.html hich helps you find your body-type and what kind of food is best for each type, but one may still need to modify it to suit one's unique needs - especially if you have many food sensitivities etc. " > I'm a perfect Vata and using that as a guide has helped me a lot. Though, like you said, you have to find what is best for your particular self. Carb addiction, sugar addiction among other things can disrupt your body's signals to you telling you what is right for you because you'll only think of bread bread bread, carbs carbs, soda soda candy or things like these. Guest guest
>> What about Bible contradictions, such as those listed at > http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible- contradictions.html > ? I once spent several hours with a list like this that a Muslim man had given me, researching the contradictions and providing explanations. I was able to answer all but two. I presented it to him, only to have him toss it out in a very aggravated way--he had not expected me to answer him, and I was in such a hurry to get back to him that I didn't make a copy. I would research them again for you if I was sure you did want me to, and are not just using the contradiction argument as a reason to dismiss the bible. How about a little vegetarian tolerance for us meat eaters?"No offensive meant , just being 'logical'. For Pete's sake, I do not judge you, or anyone. Be yourself.  Rainbow

Guest guest
>> > I wonder how he would have reacted had you given him a list of > contradictions in the Koran? > > Based on the way this guy was acting HE guy probably would have screamed and yelled and told me to go away (even if a man had given the contradictions to him and not a woman as myself), but another hopefully would have considered them. A lot depends on what country they're from and how they were raised. A Jordanian Muslim would have reacted differently no doubt, than someone raised in a more fundamental way, in a more fundamental area. Guest guest
Re: > I wonder how he would have reacted had you given him a list of contradictions >in the Koran? Muslims really don't like that (partly because somewhere in the Koran it says that the Koran has no contradictions). But if you want to see Koran contradictions, a pretty good list of them appears on-line at http://www.secularislam.org/guide/mirza.htm Yours for better letters, Kate Gladstone Handwriting Repair and the World Handwriting Contest handwritingrepair@... http://learn.to/handwrite, http://www.global2000.net/handwritingrepair 325 South Manning Boulevard Albany, New York 12208-1731 USA telephone 518/482-6763 AND REMEMBER ... you can order books through my site!
