Guest guest
Most of us are paid based upon job performance. Even those who recieve an hourly wage must be productive to keep their jobs. Those who work on commission perform, or starve. In the medical world, physicians get paid for their time if they can help you or not. They even get paid if they HURT you. So I can see WHY things have gone the way they have, especially with statins. Now imagine a world where physician pay is based upon performance. If the physician can help you, or refer you to someone that can, he gets paid. But if the customer ( patient) recieves nothing, the physician gets nothing in return. After all, if the lawn man doesn't cut my yard, he dosn't get paid. Now lets take it one step further. Suppose the risk is upon the shouders of the doctor. If he induces damage, he must compensate the customer. After all, if my roofer breaks a window in the process of roofing my house, he buys me a new window. Then he gets paid for the new roof, provided it was installed correctly. Same with the doctor. If he torches my muscles with lipitor and I can't work, he must compensate me from his own pocket for my lost income and care. Now imagine a world where physician pay is performance based, and they assume liability for their own mistakes just like any other profession. HOW MANY PRESCRIPTIONS OF LIPITOR DO YOU THINK WOULD BE WRITTEN? The answer is NONE.
