Ugh - I am very involved as a volunteer with the AMerican Cancer Society's Relay For Life, and here is the article I found on their site yesterday about a study showing the statins might help prevent cancer. A highly regarded doctor mentions several times how the statins are an important way to PREVENT heart disease. I would just love to point out to him, if thats the case, then why, right in their own advertisements, do they have to say that they do not prevent heart disease or attacks!! Think if aspirin or ibuprofen bottles had to say that they dont relieve headache pain..... I am torn, as I am so devoted to the ACS, about posting a comment on the site, but also devoted to the cause spreading the truth. Anyone want to bet if the drug companies pick up on this though and start advertising it?? http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_Could_Statins_Prevent_Cancer.asp Kip

I stopped supporting the Heart and Stroke foundation

because of their unbridled support of statins.--- Kip

Most of the studies I've seen reported actually show a higher rate of

cancer deaths among those who took the statins.
