Greetings !

First I'd like to thank everyone for the input in regards to the

statin problem. If it wasn't for this site I really wouldn't know

what to do.

But here's my story....

Last spring, 2007, I broke my leg. I ended up having surgery and

going through therapy and still have to keep exercising to this day.

Last Thanksgiving, the Monday after to be exact, I was prescribed

Lipitor. I was already put Altace and HCTZ. I didn't even know I had

a high BP problem until my accident, I'm 53. It wasn't long after

being on the Lipitor that I noticed weird feelings. My bad leg

started hurting, bad. Around Christmas, after reviewing everything I

knew about myself and reading on this board, I stopped the Lipitor,

cold. It didn't take long but the aches and pain went away. I've

decided to try a change in diet and more exercise however today I

received a call from my docs office. I let them know I stopped the

Lipitor. Well now they want to try Zocor. WHAT??? From what I'm

seeing it's like replacing one problem with another of a different

name. I'm going to call the doc back and let them know that I want at

least a couple months off of all cholesterol drugs before I try

anything else, especially a statin. It hasn't even been a year since

I broke my leg and after reading about the muscle loss I don't wish

to chance weakening an already weakened leg. Any input would be

appreciated. Has anyone had any experience with the plant sterols.

I'm not one for taking drugs, period. So this new way of pill popping

to stay alive just does not sit well with me. Ah, almost forgot...

One thing mentioned to me if I go on the Zocor.... " Don't go off

it... If you have aches and pains they'll have to see what they can

do for it. " I figure more pills. Sorry not for me.
