Guest guest
Hi everyone,. We had friends visit us this week-end from the south of France near the french riviera. As you may be aware, the French have an obesity rate of only 7% and much lower rates of heart disease. Completely the opposite from here in the states. Our visitors noticed how overweight America is and how big food portions are. They also could see the high sugar consumption here in the states. They were stunned by the big breakfast served at the hotel. They ate less than the americans and skipped lunch because they were so full. By dinner they were hungry because of the skipped lunch. My wife and I offered a buffet style meal at home. They never over indulged. They took small portions. By the end of dinner, I would guess they consumed half the calories most people would. I thought they would want wine being they are from france. I was wrong. They said they only drink wine when going out for dinner. Their drink of choice is WATER. Fast food restaurants are not as common where they live. Only a few. Our friends are also long distance runners. They are about 50 years old and are in fantastic shape. Better shape than many American teenagers. Today, I will ask them if they know anyone who takes statins. Bobby
