Guest guest
Hi Zoe, Melody and Everyone, I drink KT and kefir. I try numerous treatments and I prefer the gentler alternative methods. But when I get really sick I'm glad to have a good medical doctor who respects my ways. It's hard to find them but worth the search. Why in the world would we totally reject doctors and medicine? I'm hoping that someday there will be a blending that occurs. Around here there are doctors who practice with a Chinese medicine practitioner. And chiropractors who hire doctors to offer what they can't. The world is changing and taking sides would only serve to make me sicker since I would be rejecting some ideas from some really smart people. I certainly choose to error on the side of caution with medical doctors and medicine. I think if I got cancer I'd want an alternative treatment. But if I got banged up in a car accident or I had organ failure I think would would want the best medical doctor I could find. Just my opinion. Benadryl is one of the safer over-the-counter medicines. There are some real nasty ones. Guest guest
Hi There is no doubt that orthodox Medical Doctors have a place in health care... I however have developed a (healthy) skepticism toward the practices of Orthodox Medicines... Rather than helping our body to re-establish its balance, the whole Medicine philosophy has strayed toward alleviating symptoms ...This works or rather appear to work, because too often the " pill mentality " is a never-ending process which leads to more medication to alleviate more symptoms without addressing the causes.. You head hurts.. Oh there is a pill, it locks you jaw..Oh there is another .. which leads to stomach pain or ulcer.. well you know there is another pill or surgical procedure or another (at least in the USA) a much more expensive (read bankruptcy-causing) procedure... We should not approach KT in this fashion, methinks... else we go back to square one.. it hurts, then we take a pill, which leads to another pill ad infinitum.. negating in the process, the benefits of KT.. I do agree there are certain conditions that do require alleviating the symptoms but in the whole trying to get the body in balance should be the preferred course whenever possible.. This is not by the way aantithesis to medical Science.. To me quite the contrary Frantz maryann peterson <chpeter30096@...> wrote: Hi Zoe, Melody and Everyone, I drink KT and kefir. Guest guest
<<Just my opinion. Benadryl is one of the safer over-the-counter medicines. There are some real nasty ones>> I completely understand what Zoe is saying about trying to find alternative ways to cope even with detox reactions and pacing detox is the best way I have found to not need to even take anything at all, but it is an art to pace detox. Having said this, Benadryl literally saved my son's life this past year when he almost died from an allergic reaction. He required IV Benadryl and within a minute of this drug going in his vein, he could breathe again and straighten his arms and legs. At that point, a vitamin C or E would not have helped him. I have a new regard and admiration for Benadryl. There was a time when I would have refused any conventional medication and another time when that was all I knew to take, so again, there is that art of walking the fine line b/t the two worlds, IMHO. And the warmest of New Year greetings!! Couldn't resist jumping in here and adding my 2 cents. I have just in the last year jumped on the " Alternative " bandwagon and I for one am not getting off. I watched helplessly on the sidelines as doctors, hospitals, and the drug cartel known as big PHARMA, permitted, allowed, and contributed, to my Father, Mother, and my sister, not to mention numerous other friends and acquaintances, who shared the same experiences, their DEATHS. I am the only one left in my family, and I served notice to my wife (who shares my feelings having experienced some of the very same experiences)as well as my grown children that I alone will be responsible for my health and welfare. It certainly is a lofty goal to wish their being a blending of natural and alternative but we all know due to the tremendous amount of $$$ and greed involved that will never occur....refer to the history of the FDA, the 16 year tangle over Aspartame, to mention only a few...........just recently read this report and I will only download a few pertinent statistics but Doctors, that sacred institution, we all love and submit to unreservedly, are now the 3rd largest CAUSE OF DEATH!!! ..... ALL THESE ARE DEATHS PER YEAR: 12,000 -- unnecessary surgery 7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals 20,000 -- other errors in hospitals 80,000 -- infections in hospitals 106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs These total to 225,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes!! AND THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WE ARE TRUSTING OUR LIVES TO???? I am not taking my chances I am going with the wonderful natural things God gave us that doesn't defeat the purpose. THEY call it " HEALTHCARE " in this country I call it SICKCARE, there is nothing, Merck,Lilly and all the rest and their strange bedfellows...the FDA, and the FTC they do to try to make us HEALTHY they only want us totally dependent on their nice little drugs. I formally worked for Merck-Medco subsidiary Paid Prescriptions, you don't even want me to waste precious list space with all the horrible phone calls we received from elderly America struggling on Social Security to pay for these outrageous prescription drug addictions!! My wife and I are in the best health we have ever been in and it all started with KOMBUCHA........we have now added many other natural things around us and we are NOT ON ANY MEDICATION WHATSOEVER. KOMBUCHA GOT ME OFF OF THE VERY EXPENSIVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MEDS I WAS TAKING, AS WELL AS THE SUPER EXPENSIVE SLEEPING PILLS, AND ALLERGY MEDS.............Interestingly enough my wife's sister and her husband are 15 years younger than we are and probably pay $1000.00 a month on all kinds of pain pills, nexium, allergy meds, etc...etc...and they ARE SICK ALL THE TIME..........ALL THE TIME.......HMMMMMMMMMMMM....what is so irritating about the situation is they will NOT even let us talk to them about KOMBUCHA or natural things they absolutely turn a deaf ear to it. I have written to this list numerous times over the last year about all the wonderful things that has happened in our family and to family memebers, who have and are taking Kombucha and othe natural gifts from God, and I get real excited when I get a chance to introduce KT to new people.....It has really changed our lives for the better...........keep brewing and drinking that wonderful elixir we call KOMBUCHA~~~~~~~~~Lonnie > > > > > > > > > > ______________________________________________________________________ ______________ >

Guest guest
> > Hi > I just want to add a personal observation. I do not, yet, use ACV. I do drink KT ( Thanks again Zoe for the SCOBY and MKG) a lot about a liter a day and I am watching myself not to drink more lol... > Most natural treatments or remedies are slow in their actions.. They must bring back things to where they should be; They usually do not mask very well the body warnings, the symptoms. Not too many of these work instantly (although some do in a rather spectacular fashion), something we have come to expect from " medicines " ... Give it a try be patient, take it in small doses, really small doses.. The body can heal itself.. Try to not mask the symptoms which is what most of the " Big Pharma " drugs do: The discomfort goes away while what causes it is still active and often striving, waiting to cause more problems... In some instances, alleviating the pain or discomfort could be the ONLY recourse , in most it is not. > Hi Franz, In America, they lowered what used to be the normal blood pressure rate and I sort of think the health practitioners want everyone to be on high blood pressure meds. Do ya think? Sunny

I have not tasted even the first KT as of yet. I do however have some wonderful people (Gayle) giving their efforts at helping me get started at this. Now.... If I wake up late on the weekend, forget to take the little white pill, I feel pretty darn good untill I remember it and swallow it down. I,too, had that " Silent Killer " high blood pressure I am very familiar with the dizzy headaches, red face and palpitations of the heart and raging pulse. The dr kept changing the meds cause one would get top number down and not affect the other and vice versa, and with each med change the accompanying changes in side affects - dry hacking cough constantly, hoarseness and cotton mouth (and I don't even drink), dizzines, etc...etc... Last March I was introduced to Kombucha, and it wasn't 30 days til my BP came down and went away period. The same thing happened to my step mom who is 84 and had HBP for years!! She nor I would think of being without KT. Took my BP yesterday it was 120 over 80, and I am 63 and a little bit overweight!! It also got me off of very expensive sleeping pills that I thought I could not live without, and has GREATLY helped me with horrible allergies to many airborn fragrances. I full well expect to have those allergies eliminated by spring. Not to long ago someone posted about KT being a placebo affect cause they really hadn't noticed any changes in their bodies and I had to share my experience once again. I love telling people about what Kombucha has done for my wife and I. Folks find it hard to believe that at our age we don't have diabetes or heart problems, or blah...blah...blah and that we are not on any medication at all. I gladly tell them it's true and we have never enjoyed better health than we have today!! To me that is very exciting and no " placebo " can do all of that. It has been in the 20's and teens up here in the mountains of Northeastern Oregon since Thanksgiving and we have had snow and ice on the ground most of that time, and with all of that of course cold and flu season, and with everyone sneezing on us, coughing in our face, drippy noses all around, we just go on our merry way and haven't had the first symptom of a cold/flu. Needless to say we get excited talking about Kombucha and natural things, and we try to get as many people as possible to at least try it. At one time I was brewing for 10 people, but that number has dwindled but we stay pretty busy brewing any way as my wife and I probably drink at least a quart each day. Stay tuned into this list Don and you will find a lot of people willing to help you, advise you, and be a friend to you. Guest guest
Dear lmccalip, I love everything you wrote. Fortunately for you. you were able to glean the wisdom through tough experiences of others. I went through it personally -- had an unnecessary surgery performed on myself, in granting my mother's dying wish. (She literally was only able to die in the knowledge that I had gone through every damage possible... People can abuse their children through doctors, and the hippocratic oath means nothing to doctors if they know that by breaking it they can fill their pocketbooks. Anyway, I am just reading this lovely site about nutrition called biblelife.org. I think it has A LOT of good information but like any site it is not perfect. I started by reading www.biblelife.org/fiber On another link, they talk about arrogance, and how easy it is to brainwash a person because of her arrogance. People who have gone through disease or suffer continually from it lose some of the susceptibility and can see the truth better, for what it's worth. Guest guest
This thread has been about acid reflux treatments for quite a while. Can we please change the subject line when this happens. I quickly lost interest in the benedryl/allopahtic medication topic, but I have family and friends who can benefit from acid reflux remedies. I'm glad I accidently opened one, but how about just changing the topic line or starting a new thread? Thanks so much! Jill~
