Guest guest
Zoe, I'm so glad you've experienced the same thing. I've figured that my body is trying to reach equilibrium after detox etc so I haven't let it worry me (too much anyway). You having experienced the same thing is very encouraging All my bodily functions have most definitely improved, lol. After I wrote I lost 50lbs, I got several emails asking me what I did. I'm going to post what I sent to one lady. I'm fairly new to all this, but it's been working miracles in my life. I just want to share a little. If this is too far off topic I'm sorry. I am following a diet I got from my chiropractor. I'll try and sum it up here, but there's a lot to it. It is called the " Advanced Healing Diet " from books by Dr. Ben Lerner. I guess you could call it a whole foods diet. 1. NO sugar of any kind, not even honey 2. NO grains of any kind, not corn or anything 3. NO potatoes, not even sweet potatoes 4. NO root vegetables unless lactofermented except garlic and onions etc. 5. NO dairy except raw from grass fed cows/goats 6. NO soy except organic fermented 7. NOTHING processed. Basically, if it's got more than one ingredient or if God didn't make it, don't eat it. 8. Follow the rules of Leviticus 11, basically no shellfish, pork, or fish without scales..ie shark (there are other restrictions in the Bible, but these are the ones most common today) 9. Avoid all artificial sweeteners....Nutrasweet, aspartame, saccharin, Splenda, sucralose etc. If you want to sweeten something you can use stevia or Xylitol (although I've been hearing more and more about how Xylitol isn't really good for you) Personally, I stick to stevia. I didn't find the taste that hard to get used to. 10. God fats: Saturated fat is good for you if it comes from free range/grass fed meats. Coconut oil is one of those wonderfoods, you really need to add it to your diet. DON'T get the cheap stuff that WalMart sells, it's been bleached and refined and full of chemicals. You need to get organic virgin unrefined coconut oil. If you are going to cook with it, get organic refined EXPELLER PRESSED. Extra virgin olive oil is fine. Palm oil. NO VEGETABLE OILS LIKE: canola, corn, safflower, cottonseed, soy and so on. Basically the only fats in your besides what's in meat should be extra virgin expeller pressed, preferably unfiltered organic olive oil, coconut and palm oils as described above and butter from range fed dairy cattle, preferably raw. 11. Limit protein to about 45grams per meal (3 oz). After you've been on the diet awhile and if you are active, can increase to 20grams. (this has been almost impossible for me. I eat more protein than I should on this possibly because I don't eat enough fat) 12. You can have small amounts of beans and lentils if soaked. You can use almond flour, bean flour and coconut flour. 13. NO peanut butter unless from organic Valencia peanuts. Things I added myself after research: I try to stick to a 50% raw diet. I have added dairy kefir (raw milk) and water kefir, both of which I ferment until there is no sugar left, Kombucha which I ferment til quite tart and I make several different cultured (lacto-fermented) veggies. I have chosen limited supplements based on my condition. You will need to customize supplements to your own needs. Of course, it is recommended that you go completely organic. I cannot afford this. My chiropractor said if you have to only buy certain things organic, go with meat, because toxins are stored in the fats in meat and concentrations are much higher in meat than in produce. I found an affordable compromise with a local farmer. Their beef and chickens are range fed and supplemented with some grain (which is not organic...they can't get organic grain in this area) but I know the grain supplements are used sparingly. The taste of range fed meats and eggs vs the grocery store is incredible. The chiropractor offers all kinds of classes explaining the reasoning behind these restrictions. There's no way I can condense that here. Do a search and see if there is a Maximized Living chiropractor near you. They will offer the classes and support you need to do this. The Chiropractor also recommended I do a detox program based on some tests he gave me. I couldn't afford the supplements and stuff to do it his way, so I did it slowly with foods, and then with clay. It took a while to get over the hump but I did. When I started this, I was on 27 medications. In 2004, I lifted a patient and herniated 4 discs (I was an Hospice RN). I went through neck and back surgery to no avail. I was in bed or in a recliner almost all the time. I could not walk without a cane and outside of my house had to use a scooter. The pain was unbearable. In April, I was told I would be in a wheelchair permanently within a year. The back surgery had failed and I had developed scar tissue which was pressing on the spinal cord. More surgery was out of the question. I was told to go back on morphine and just learn to live with it. I got home from that appt and literally begged God to heal me or take me. He heard me. No, it hasn't been an instant healing, but He showed me the way and how He wants me (us) to eat and live. I haven't used a cane in months. My scooter sits parked in my house. I am on only Synthroid after being on 27 medications. I no longer have several diseases and conditions. Basically, it took traditional medicine giving up on me to force me to look for answers elsewhere. I still have about 60lbs to lose, but I know it will come. I am a miracle just as much as anyone Jesus healed in the Bible. Patty
