Guest guest
Well I suppose if you want to send it to me that might be helpful, I appreciate your thinking of me. I am not taking the bextra at this time because I am out of it and never got it refilled and I am seeing allot of improvements with the dexamethasone treatments my pt is giving me also the stretching and night splint seem to be helping me allot, hope that this will be enough, but yeah I would be interested in the info on the bextra should i chose to take it again. hugs C ----- Original Message ----- From: e Rene Sent: Sunday, September 08, 2002 9:20 PM Subject: Bextra , I was going through some stuff today, and found some info on Bextra. It is basically a couple of booklets, and the package insert. I didn't know if you'd like them just to have for your info or not. If not, I will throw them away. I was looking through the Bextra book and it's also indicated for dysmenorhea. Too bad I can't take it, because I could sure use it for that! Let me know if you want the info or not. e
Guest guest
I'm glad the dexa is helping. I sure wish I could have some pain relief other than narcotics. I can't take any NSAIDS (ibuprofen, bextra, celebrex, vioxx, ASA, etc) because it interferes with the healing of the cervical fusion. But plain Tylenol alone does absolutely nothing. So, I take the vicodin when I absolutely need to, otherwise, I just suffer. I also can't take dexa or pred because they are steroids, and also interfere with healing. Sucks!! As soon as I get my benefits in Denver, I'm getting in to see the pain management doc I used to see and see what he can do. I'm hoping that he can do some cervical, thoracic, and lumbar blocks, as well as acupuncture. e ----- Original Message ----- From: Heer Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 8:27 AM Subject: Re: Bextra Well I suppose if you want to send it to me that might be helpful, I appreciate your thinking of me. Guest guest
I'm taking Bextra too! :-) I had been off all RA meds for a few years (long story - lousy GP) and just recently saw a rheumatologist who started me on Bextra as well as Plaquenil (again). It seems to be working well for me. I take 20mg each morning and it seems to carry me through fairly well. I do notice though that after the 24 hours it wears off quickly! I find it works best for me if I make sure to take it at the same time each day. If I sleep in on the weekends and take it late it seems like I'm playing " catch up " all day and don't get the same level of pain relief. I find it quite easy on the tummy too. My first go round with RA meds (about 7 years ago) I was on Plaquenil and Arthrotec. The Arthrotec worked fine, but I had to stop taking it after a while as it was VERY hard on my stomach. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one won't go the same way. Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing with it! Best wishes, Lynn
Guest guest
Hi Donna..i am a 75+ year old female and i take the MSM, too, and i am sure i am better for it, but it takes a while for it to get in the system. my brother who is about 78 or 9 swears by it and exercise as much as possible. he told me the other day that he also started taking the Glucosamine. i am having morning flares, with swollen feet and painful knees, elbows, neck, and wrists but when i get up and finally get going, i'm pretty good. BUT...by golly, my hands are better!!! and i can still walk, drive and do my housework so i feel pretty lucky. i just about quit using capitol letters in my posts as my fingers don't always work right but i don't think anyone cares if i don't capitolize <grin> i have almost totally given up meats, milk, sugar, carbonated drinks, as they really aggravate my reflux desease (which was also agravated by some of the NSAIDS i was taking,) and i eat a lot of vegetables, fruits and nuts. i also take acidophilus, DGL (licorice) and vegetable enzymes and that has really helped the reflux problem. i knew about the MSM but my rhuemie told me it wasn't much help for RA, only osteo A, but my brother bragged on it so much the past several years i finally started taking it and i do think it is helping. i also am a member of the group "herbal_remedies" and have learned a lot there as well as shared.... learned more than i shared <grin> love.. lee h aka Grany lee ----- Original Message ----- From: Donna Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Sunday, December 07, 2003 5:55 PM Subject: Re: Bextra I was on Bextra for a short while and it DID seem to help, but I've decided to go with MSM, Chondroitin, and Glucosamine for a while. It is helping me tremendously so for now that's what I'm doing. I was taking a lot of Ibuprofen for a while, too, and ended up with minor headaches, which I think were caused by it. I've never been one to have headaches in my life until after being on the Ibuprofen. My brother also takes the same thing I'm taking and it's helping him tremendously also. In fact, he's the one who suggested it to me. Hope everyone is doing well. Good luck to you. Donna
