using herbs for your kt with your extra mushrooms

Hello all,

I am reading a book that talks about using herbs in KT. The author says

you can take a herbal formula for a specific illness and put it in

your KT and brew as you normally would. He also says to use the

mushroom only for this herbal practice because it will eventually

change the activity of the mushroom. In other words use it 2tx and then

recycle it to the garden.

His feeling about doing this is that it gives the herbal application a

different life force and it will be in more tune with your body.

So when you have extra mushrooms you could brew your medicinal KT and

bottle it and save it for the day you need it. For example a echinacea

brew for colds. His recipes are roughly 4-6 tablespoons of herbs to 4

liters.

If you want to know some of his reccomendations ask and I will look it

up.

There is one about chammomile to calm the nerves and to later use the

mushroom for facial application. So I was thinking you could make your

facial mushroom with this in mind.Rose petals, calendula, etc. You may

not want to drink it but could use it for skin tyreatments.

I have a bag of Dong Quai in powder form and would love to incorporate it into

something like KT or water kefir or any kind of fermented drink. Is anyone

knowledgeable on how I can do this?

Thanks,

Millie

Hi Millie and EveryOne,

My recommendation would be to make a tea or at least a water extract

of your powdered Dong Quai and then add that to your Kombucha tea when

you bottle it. You could also try combining the Dong Quai powder with

finished KT and see if it dissolves completely so you could avoid

having to make an infusion first.

By adding herbs when the KT is finished, you avoid having the herbs

effect your Kombucha Colony. You could also add the herbs to some of

your KT but not all of it if you wish. I sometimes use the herbal tea

bags by Traditional Medicinals available in most health food stores to

add herbs to my KT once it is bottled. Works well for Ginger, Ginseng,

Dong Quai etc. Two bags per half gallon usually works quite well.

Happy Healthy Brewing!

Peace, Love and Harmony,

Bev
