Guest guest
Hi , I too have low thyroid and have been drinking KT for a few months recently, and for a couple of years a while back. Would you share the info you have regarding KT and hypothyroid? Thanks, Ana From: kombucha tea [mailto:kombucha tea ] On Behalf Of Arnold Sent: Friday, January 11, 2008 1:45 PM kombucha tea Subject: low thyroid and kt I have read a few articles that the authors are unsure if you should consume kt if you have a low thyroid. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience they are willing to share. I have a low thyroid and have been consuming kt for about 1-2 months. I love it so much and hate to stop unless I have more information. Also, I have been trying to drink a more acidic brew since I deal with candida. I brewed for 10 days. It does taste more acidic/tart but I still like it. However, it is more cloudy than the past batches brewed at 7 days. Why, and is it OK? Thanks all, __________________________________________________________ Never miss a thing. Make your home page. http://www./r/hs
Guest guest
Sure, The Happy Herbalist had an article that said he was not sure a person with hypothyroid should be consuming kt. I was hoping he would respond and share what his thoughts are.I hope I am not misquoting him or taking it out of context. He also, stated the same for low blood pressure, however supported it for high blood pressure. I have been going to a new doc due to change in insurance.(boo hoo) She did a blood panel on me and said I was on too much thyroid (3 grains) She took me down (2 1/2) and did more blood work. Then she called and said it was still too high and took me even lower (1 1/2) I think if my meds were that high I would have been so jittery, so I question if it is correct. But then I thought, I started drinking kt could that have helped, so quickly?! I sure don't know. I am not feeling good about the decrease however I do want to get off the medicine (Armour) But, this Dr said I have Hashimotos disease. Sorry about the spelling. I am interested in hearing about your experience and if you have information that supports a benefit for low thyroid and kt. Guest guest
Hi and EveryOne, There is an excellent list called the Natural Thyroid Hormone group on that would be a good place to ask about Hashimotos and Armour. Sometimes doctors just go by the TSH test and if they see the TSH is low they think your thyroid hormone levels are too high. It is a lot more complicated than that and there are some other tests: The Free T4, Free T3 and Thyroid Antibodies that can help a lot to determine what is going on and what is the right amount of thyroid hormone for you. Going by how you feel is also helpful. There are more articles about TSH on Shomon's Thyroid site on About.com Kombucha is a food and as far as I know it has no effect on either thyroid hormone levels. Not sure how it would effect thyroid hormone levels.....I would be very interested to hear other peoples experience with Kombucha and thyroid hormone levels....
