rotten egg smell in brewing jar

The HappyHerbALIST.COM says

Rotten egg smell. Hydrogen sulfide (often found in natural ground

water), too much oxygen or it comes out of solution...

These smells---though awful are not toxic. Thankfully, most of the

time it is only one batch that goes off and the next batch are back to

winning awards. If not toss it and start over....
