Does Kombucha with mold taste different?

My Kombucha is growing a very messy looking scoby with whitish/grayish

" clouds " . I know I often " disturb " it's uniform growth by adding more

tea and taking before a nice-looking round scoby gets a chance to grow.

But lately I've been thinking that may be my Kombucha is growing mold?

I saw pictures and it's hard to tell - some pictures of mold look

like what I have, some " normal " growth pictures look as what I have...

Is there a taste difference? Smell? Thanks in advance!
