Kombucha: Tea and Sugar

Hi EveryOne,

While we most often recommend using Organic or regular tea: black, green or

white and sugar, white or organic to make KT, we do that because that is

what is known to work.....

Doesn't mean you can't try other options. Before I settled on the recipe I

use for KT:

http://users.bestweb.net/~om/kmi/manual.html

I tried, maple syrup, molasses, brown sugar, rice syrup, honey, etc. I have

also tried many different teas over the years. Some things work OK, others

not at all. Colleen , former list owner used pasteurized honey and Earl

Grey tea to make her Kombucha tea. Some people use Rooibus. Feel free to

experiment until you find what you like and what works best for you. Just be

sure to keep your experiments separate from your regular tea and sugar brew

so that if your experiment does not turn out to your liking, you will have

some regular Kombucha to return to.

When you share Kombucha with other people please try to stick to the regular

tea and sugar recipe or let them know that you have changed it. Obviously,

what you choose to use for ingredients will have a profound effect on the

resulting KT.

I choose to use Fair Trade, Certified Organic, teas and sugar for making

Kombucha and have done so for many, years. Never had a problem with either

and the Kombucha tea it produces is delicious and offers many benefits to

health and well being.

Peace, Love and Harmony,

Bev
