Guest guest
, Has she discussed Remicade with you? It doesn't go through the digestive system and would not affect your stomach. I too tested negative for the RAfactor, which surprised me as I thought you had to have it if you had RA. Mine just started in my fingers and wrists also with a bit in my toes. I just had my second Remicade treatment and it is helping. But I also have crohn's disease and have just discovered that I have two strictures and perhaps a tumor in my small intestine. So I have to have surgery, probably this week for all of that. Hopefully, taking the Remicade will keep the crohn's from coming back. I hope. I would ask you Dr. about Remicade. Good luck, L ----- Original Message ----- From: Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2003 11:31 AM Subject: Information Hello, I have mainly been lurking since joining the list with a few sporatic messages here and there and I have been learning so much. I was just at my Rheumetologist on Thursday and am a bit perplexed as to what is going on. My rheumatoid arthritis is mainly in my hands and wrists. I have tested negative for the RA factor and x-rays have been good so far. But I guess fluid is starting fill in my joints, so I am guessing that my current meds are not working. On Wednesday I am going for a bone scan and a crap load more blood tests. I am wondering whay causes the fluid buiild up in the joints and does anyone know what they can do about it? Also - what will the bone scan show? She said I needed it for her to determine how aggressively she should be treating me. My case is somewhat complicated by the fact that I cannot take any anti-infammatories what-so-ever as my stomach will hemmorage. I am getting somewhat frustrated as I am continually sore, sometimes worse than others, and the Tylenol Arthritis seems to barely help and I am anxious to get onto something that will help. The Plaqunil and Sulphathazine (hope I remembered those correctly) seem to do little. Sorry for the complaints. Guest guest
, Did your Dr call it Rhuem. Arthritis or Psoriatic Arthritis when involving your hands/wrists/fingers/toes? My Dr calls mine Psoriatic, but I had some psoriasis. He also said the Remicade type drugs are not yet approved for psoriatic arthritis. The occupational therapist (hand therapy) said she has had many psoriatic athritis patients without much psoriasis. Has anyone here benefited much from hand therapy? -----Original Message-----From: [mailto:lathrop@...]Sent: Monday, September 29, 2003 3:32 AMRheumatoid Arthritis Subject: Re: Information , Has she discussed Remicade with you? Guest guest
Hi , Well, actually I have psoriasis and several forms of arthritis. My rhemy Dr. said they all blend together somewhat. I have ankylosing spondylitis which has been now recognized as a third form of arthritis along with OA and RA. As I said I also have crohn's and have had that for 22 years along with the AS. I also have fibromyalgia. Just a very messed up immune system. ;-) By the way, I was told that Remicade is being approved for psoriatric arthritis in the next few months. ----- Original Message ----- From: SportsFanHome Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Monday, September 29, 2003 8:22 AM Subject: RE: Information , Did your Dr call it Rhuem.
