Guest guest
Meg, My experience has been the same, although it's a whole lot better than any of the others that I've used-NSAI, methatrexate, arava, A-sulfadine (horrible allergic reaction), prednisone-wonderful but not for long term use. I've been on enbrel for about a year and it was quite a miracle at first but no longer. I don't have joint swelling of fatigue but do have pain. Also taking vioxx. Have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday. *** Temple*** Kuddle Kritters Farm Chelmsford, MA dat2352@... www.homestead.com/kuddlekraft/index.html www.homestead.com/kuddlekrittersfarm/index.html www.homestead.com/kuddlekrittersdairygoats/index.html

Guest guest
Meg, I took Enbrel for 3 months. I was also taking Arava at the same time. I had no results from the Enbrel. I was one of the unlucky ones that it just didn't work on. I didn't have any side affects either. It has been a miracle drug for a lot of people. Good luck to you. Guest guest
Hi Meg. Welcome to our group. I've been on Enbrel for two years. For the first year and an half, it was wonderful, but then it started loosing it's effectiveness. I stopped it for a few months, and tried the antibiotic treatment. When I first started taking tetracycline, I flared really bad, which was what was supposed to happen. After about a month of feeling really bad, I went back on Enbrel. Now I take it as needed. I *think* the antibiotics are helping, but I also dramatically changed my diet and eliminated all dairy, sugar, meats and caffeine. Sometimes I can go for 2 weeks without an injection, other times I need one a week. While on Enbrel, I had no side effects. The warnings concern me, but I will continue to take it as long as it is controlling my inflammation. The side effects are rare, and I just have to pray I am not one that will experience those side effects. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <megherr@...> < egroups> Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 8:03 PM Subject: [ ] embrel > Dear Anyone,I'm knew to " E " and am interested in knowing anyone's > experience with embrel and if they are aware of the latest warnings > about some evidence of MS as a side effect. Guest guest
, I'm the same way. I have a lot of joint pain from the damage that has already been done. but I don't get a lot of inflammation. My elbow is the only joint that swells a lot, and my ankles go through fits. I used to think that no swelling meant no damage, but that is not true. Many people have very little swelling, yet x-rays show severe erosion. Others have lots of swelling and no erosion. This disease is so confusing. a ----- Original Message ----- From: Temple <dat2352@...> < egroups> Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 10:11 PM Subject: Re: [ ] embrel > Meg, > My experience has been the same, although it's a whole lot better than any > of the others that I've used-NSAI, methatrexate, arava, A-sulfadine > (horrible allergic reaction), prednisone-wonderful but not for long term > use. Guest guest
My son as alot of people in the group know has done wonderful with the Enbrel. He is on many other meds but the Enbrel changed his young life within 24 hours after taking the first dose. He is being a real boy as i call it. he is out playing with his friends and riding his bike and even playing football with the other kids. He spent 6 years pretty much homebound and watched his friends and 4 brothers do things that he couldn't do. sure hope it works for you. shelly and jesse
Guest guest
Does anyone take embrel 3 times a week? They sent me a questionaire and asked if I take shots once, twice or three times a week? I didn't know you could take embrel more than twice a week? Sharon

I am awaiting my PPD test results then I will > start it. > Hello, I've been on the shot about 8 months now and it does help the swelling but not the pain. It is diffacult to get Doctors to give a scrpt for pain here in Ontario.(Paranoid doctors) I've also been on Prednisone for many years and off / on many other drugs since '91. Good luck,
Guest guest
I have been on Enbrel for about 8 months. I saw very good results within 3 weeks. You do get used to giving yourself shots. Let the shot warm up when you take it out of the refrigerator before injecting. When you do that it doesn't hurt at all. Lately my results seem to have diminished. My hands are painful again and swollen. My elbow and shoulders are also " acting up " once more. I have tried increasing my prednisone dosage but it hasn't made much of a difference. I see my rheumatologist the beginning of November and will ask him what he thinks. Has any one else had their Enbrel results diminish over time? Guest guest
I have been on Humira (the same type drug as Enbrel) for a couple of years and just lately have been having bad flares. It seems that ever since I " forgot " my weekly injection, I haven't been the same. I was only 3 days late but that was over a month ago. Since then, I've had several Prednisone bumps to get me through the bad ones. I'm remaining optimistic that it will start working again or the doc wants me to go to Orencia. Everyone here is tired of trying yet another drug, including me. Too bad Prednisone is bad for you because it works on my joints, asthma and energy. I already have Avascular Necrosis (dead bone) in my ankle from it. Sorry to go on and on with my answer, how long has the Enbrel stopped working for you?
