Does anyone know how to pack a couple of scobies so they survive a

long-haul flight in my suitcase. I want to give acouple of scobies to

my mum in South America and I want to put the scobies in the hold. (I

think I have to, since so liquids are allowed on board for security

reasons). I know the person who sent me a couple of starters used a

coke bottle and it seemed completely sealed to me but I can't figure

out how to do it myself. Help anyone? Eli in Warrington

I'd use triple or double freezer bags.

You might want to check with the airlines, as they are very strict

restrictions on living organisms that can be put on a plane, not to mention

Customs Restrictions (exporting from USA and importing into whatever South

American country you are going to).

You could end up in a pickle, if you just do it, without checking.

You are taking a living organism with Bacteria and Yeast internationally,

you might be better to ship it ahead (and even then there may be

restrictions).

Better to be safe, than sorry.

You might be better to find someone locally to get a Scoby from...

If all else fails, you may be able to dehydrate a scoby and on

arrival, have it rehydrated in a vinegar solution. I don't know the

particulars, but there have been group members who have successfully

rehydrated very old scobys. Any thoughts on this, group?
