Guest guest
hi, i'm a lurker that joined a couple of weeks ago. my husband does not like me to post for security concerns (and i don't let him own handguns, it works both ways). however, since there won't be many to reply to these posts, ive come out of hiding. WEAP is working w/ my little guy. they are officially considered a Lovaas replication site, but the office i work with in green bay incorporates a lot of VB into his programming, and even includes floortime like activities into his downtime. i love them and don't think we could get a better team if i hand picked them, although i did pick over half the team (a friend, and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law are all his therapists, trained and paid for thru WEAP). As for Glendale and the school district, i dunno, but the reason i'm replying is because in the state of WI if your child is considered disabled because of his autism (Social Security decides if he/she is disabled) your child is eligible for Medical Assistance and the entire ABA program is paid for by the state!!! (WI is one of only three states that does this) It's done by regular MA if your family is income eligible, or thru Beckett Medicaid program, which only considers your child's assets if your family's income is too high. Some people have refused this as they want their disabled child taken care of thru trusts and such, but i say just keep everything in your name until your child has a few years of ABA, DTT, VB, whatever, under his/her belt. WEAP considers their program to take about 4 years. WI will continue to pay for services as long as there is documented progress. I will never move from WI (even though i hate winter!) as long as my little guy can continue to get help like this! People in other groups have openly stated they have moved across the border from MN, MI, or IL just to get services for their children. Boy, get me going on a subject and i just don't quit! back to lurking, katm0mdu
