Guest guest
I gave my sons a baby a year or so ago, and they immediately changed the recipe I gave them! They didn't like the strength of the black tea. They brew with mostly green and/or white, including a peach flavored one, which I thought wasn't supposed to work. I had some while I was visiting them last summer, and it was pretty good, but a little too mild for my taste. I've settled into a blend now of 2 bags each: black, green and white, and I'm finding it a nice balanced brew. Guest guest
This thread has imspired me to try using white tea for my continuous brew. I continuous brew 4-5 gallons, so today when I decanted a gallon, I made a gallon of white tea to replace it. That should make my brew about 20% white tea, so it will be interesting over the next few weeks to see how it progresses as I keep replacing what's been decanted with white tea. I had to go to 3 different stores to finally find white tea with no flavorings. I ended up with Salada at a price of around $4.00 for 40 bags (2.5 oz). I did find the Silver Needle organic, but at $9 for a bit over an ounce, I decided on the Salada. I'll keep you posted on the flavor, pH, and sugar content, etc. Dee > > I will agree to that one. > My original recipe called for equal amts of green and black tea and it was good, but when I made it 1/3 green- 1/3 black and 1/3 white > the taste difference was tremendous and it lightened the color of the finished KT. Ive never tried a total white tea KT and suspect that it may just be a little too mild , but added to any other tea or tea blend should be a nice compliment. > > zoe

I also sell a white tea/black tea blend that is certified organic. It's called Eclipse. http://www.sensibiliteasonline.com/teawhiteeclipse.html I can easily make a blend that is 1/3 green, 1/3 white and 1/3 black that is made of only organic teas if your interested. Hope this helps! donnalynn www.sensibiliteasonline.com SensibiliTeas 71 Lawrence Street Glens Falls NY 12801 The discount on my website is open to all OK list folks. Guest guest
That does sound yummy. Right now all I could find at a good price was at World Market. It was $7.99 for black organic & I got 4oz. I haven't been able to find organic white. Celestial Seasonings has a great organic green tea. Thanks for all of the help & insight. Guest guest
FWIW: Anyone interested in white tea might take a look at the Stash Tea site (www.stashtea.com) . Look under New Items to find: 32525E New! White tea, the least processed of all teas, has the highest level of good-for-you antioxidants. Stash Tea combines 100% natural flavorings with premium white tea to create delightful pairings. Pandan gift basket includes Fusion Honey Ginseng White, Decaf Lemon & White, Decaf Raspberry & White, Fusion Green & White, and Fusion Red & White. 50 tea bags. Easy gift includes standard shipping & handling to U.S. addresses, gift wrap with Stash ribbon and gift note with your personal message! And for a limited time only (April 7 - April 30), we'll also include our Bed & Breakfast Guide at no charge, along with special gift wrap for Mother's Day. 32525E (Online exclusive) (OnlineExclusive) 32525E $22.95 I realize that the flavorings could make these unsuitable for KT, but maybe not! Stash also has regular whites. Sometimes you can find the Stash brand at BigLots stores (less expensive, but not a lot of choice of flavors). Just recently I bought a dozen boxes of their Peach flavor for iced tea this summer. CostPlus World Markets usually has Republic of Tea White Peony or just Emporer's White as well. They have a great catalog and web site too! (Republic of Tea, that is!) Hope this helps someone, HDB ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Hi All, My brew is about 50% white tea now and is wonderfully delicious! The color is a beautiful light golden brown and the flavor is delicate and lovely! It's lost that overripe fruit taste and smell that was becoming stronger. If you haven't tried white tea in your brew yet, give it a try. Dee > > This thread has imspired me to try using white tea for my continuous > brew.
