Did it go too long or is it supposed to taste like that? I don't know how it is supposed to taste. I added cardamon seeds and a few cloves to the new batch of tea. Hope that is OK. Guest guest Posted April 2, 2008 Report Share Posted April 2, 2008 Dorothy...KT is an acidic beverage. How tart you harvest is a matter of personal taste. I harvest mine quite dry and tart. I would very much caution against putting spices in you first ferment! Especially cloves which have a very high oil content. They can damage you SCOBY. Anything high in volatile oils should be added after bottling. I would remove the spices if you have them in first ferment. Gayle 1st batch >I drew off my first batch today, the 8th day.
