Hello Carla.

I read in your posting that you suffer from Ulcerative Colitis as well as RA.

I have Crohns Disease, RA & a lot of other medical problems.

I just wanted to let you know not to ever let your doctor try you on Arava for the RA as they did with me.

Every thing came out of remission in a huge way & I have never fully recovered since.

It caused major on going problems for my CD and they are still trying to settle it down. That was 2 years ago.

They now know not to use it on people with inflammatory bowl diseases & RA after a lot of us had big problems with Arava down here in Australia.

I am a member of the group but very rarely post. I do read all of the postings most days tho.

Debbie.

Hello !

You are very welcome in our group and I am sorry that no one replied to your original message. I am included. I too do not reply to every message and I apologize if I have offended you in any way.

I can only imagine what you must be feeling! Expecting a baby is a difficult enough ordeal in and of its self but to have RA on top of that must be so difficult!!!!! Do you have good support around you? How long have you been diagnosed? Is this your first little one? How far along are you? I know, I know.....20 questions.....I am just curious and interested in you.

I wish you the best and I do hope that you stay. There are a lot of good people here and they care. All of us have RA or some form of auto-immune disease or are a support to someone who has one.

I was diagnosed when I was 41 (I'll be 45 next month). Within 6 months of being diagnosed, I was on disability. It hit me hard! And has been very difficult to treat. I was working as a manager of a Hallmark Store but I just can not do that any longer so after 3 years of treatment, I was finally able to follow my dream and calling to become a pastor of a church. My RA is just as bad as it was, only the meds are helping a little better plus I have finally learned to cope with it better. I was just plain mad at my body for 2 years! I had my first grandchild and I couldn't even get on the floor to play with her. I was walking with a walker. Now I am having trouble with my white blood cell count - it keeps dropping and dropping and the RA is beginning to affect my lungs. I take Remicade every 8 weeks - although it only lasts for 6 weeks - my next infusion is on Friday. The RA is really roaring in my body right now! Affecting ALL my joints! I also take 25 mg of methotrexate injection every week as well as folic acid and vioxx and prednisone. I also have ulcerative colitis (another auto-immune disease) which I take asacol for.

Since my RA is really bad right now, I do empathize with you about the pain. It is horrid!!!!! And the fatigue!!!!! I am sure your doctor is monitoring you well. At least I hope he or she is. And I also hope that you have a good support around you that understands how you feel and what you are enduring (spouse, friends, family).

We are here. We are all in different stages of the disease. We care about you. Please let us know how you are doing.

Carla

Hello ... i don't know what happened, but i have searched both my inbox and deleted folder and this is the only post i find from you. may have been a server problem. did you get a copy of it in your inbox? this happens occasionally, why, i don't know.

any way, i am not a monitor but do welcome you to the group and am sure everyone else does, too.

i read all the posts, but don't respond to all, as usually someone who is more knowledgeable than i will already have responded.

i recon if everyone on the group sent out a big welcome or a thank you when something good came through or.. an ' i agree with you.. ' we never would be able to get through all the posts...LOL!!!

please know that whether your post is responded to or not, most of us will have read it, and know that our thoughts for you are positive and we do empathize with you.

i'm not even sure if this list is monitored! LOL... guess i need to go on line and and read the pages and find out!

also, can you repost your original post?

thanks.. lee h aka Granny lee

I liked this message a lot. My heart goes out to all of you...I tried to find

some support in this group, but no one is responding or replying. If this

is a group for friendship and support while dealing with RA, then why doesn't

anyone reply to someone new who needs friendship and support? I am 29

and also an expectant mother, and I can't take any meds right now for the

RA pain or the anxiety that comes with it....due to my baby. but if no one replies

back I guess I'll leave the group and find one that may welcome newcomers.

Hi Debbie!

Thanks for the info! I had heard that Arava caused bowel problems - I will be sure to say NO if the doc recommends it.

I hope you have a great day!
