That's what they told me too. Along with I was swollen just because I am over weight and treated me like I was imagining my pain. Within a few short months the rhemy jumped on metho.... full speed to try and stop the joint damage already showing on xrays. If it wasn't a rhemy you saw, go to one now and don't wait for any other kind of doctor to think it is necessary.

That's not uncommon because a lot of things look somewhat like RA but turn out to be something different. The important thing is whether or not you are being treated as if it is RA because that is often what UCTD turns out to be. Joint damage can occur fairly rapidly with RA so it is often best to treat anything that looks somewhat like RA as if it were RA until proven otherwise. Good luck and God bless.

that's what i did.. got the phone book and found a rheumy and called and made an appointment. since another dr had not referred me, he was sceptical until he got the tests back and gave the prednisone test. told him if i had gotten the appointment sooner.. it was 4 months before he could fit me it.. he could have seen it and believed it my hands were so bad. while i was waiting for the appointment, i was taking ginger and ginger tincture and the flare had gone way down to where i could drive and get off the pot by myself..LOL!!! hey you guys... ginger is a great herb. i use it (ginger tinctured in isoproble alcohol, usually with some comfrey added) for a liniment and it really helps the pain. i also take it orally but either in cereal or capsuls or tinctured in clear water.

i still take 5mg of prednisone daily and also naprosin(ibuprophen) 500 mg for the RA. sinc i am taking MSM daily i think it has helped my hands a lot, but i messed around picking up some big concrete bird bath basins and tore some muscles loose in both arms and that is pretty uncomfortable. at my age and size i knew better but i used to do things like that and can't get it through my hard head that there are some things i shouldn't continue to do!
