Guest guest
Grace is casted at Portland Shriner's. Dr. D is trained. They do call the Risser casts but I believe that is mostly for billing purposes since they bill insurance now. (Insurance doesn't have to pay and neither do you if they don't). The table is correct. Dr. D does not use Plaster of Paris (POP), but fiberglass. Hope that helps. Are you in Portland or will you just be traveling here? I live in Portland and I'm always open to meeting other Scoli parents Jane From: jmotley84 <jmotley84@...> infantile scoliosis treatment Sent: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 7:35 PM Subject: Shriners in Portland OR I got in contact today about Shriners doing the new Mehta casting method and they said they did that but its called a Rizor? Guest guest
Did they tell you it was a modified Rissor cast? If so, that is the same thing as a Mehta cast. > > Grace is casted at Portland Shriner's. Â Dr. D is trained. Guest guest
They probably use the term Risser for billing issues. An fyi to all new CAST members: EDF (elongation, derotation, flexion) casting is simply an improvement to the Risser technique. A Risser frame can elongate and derotate, which is 2 dimensional correction. An edf cast applied on an edf frame has the ability to maintain/correct the lumbar lordosis which makes it 3 dimensional correction. Hope this helps.
