Guest guest
Hi I'm new to the group. I'm in the process of making my 2nd batch of kombucha. I let the 1st batch go 14 days and it tasted like vinegar. Today is the 7th day of this batch and it still tastes very sweet. I got the scoby from a friend last summer and it spent several months in it's tea in a jar in the fridge before I made my first batch. It is a very thick and medium brown scoby. There definitely seems to be activity and the first batch went to vinegar, but it isnt growing a baby. It hasnt either time. Also I have a very wide mouth jar and it hasnt grown to fit the opening. Does this sound like I need a new scoby or is it a normal variation? The top of the brew does get very foamy, but like I said there's no second culture. Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated!
