Guest guest
Hi everyone, Well so far so good. My daughter started school and seems to be doing fine (fingers crossed). She still gets a little nervous in the morning but she has adjusted better than I expected for now. Her birthday is this Saturday and to my surprise she wants to have a big sleepover with the girls in her class. This really shocked me because she usually has 1 girl that she likes to hang around with but she seems to be trying to make more friends. We sent out invitations and so far we have about 5 9yr old girls comming. I have planned to let them swim since we have a pool, but besides that I'm lost. I need ideas as how to entertain 9 yr olds for an entire night!!!! I really want this to be special for her, she is so excited I think it will be good for her to socialize more. PLEASE give me ideas!!!!! Thanks, Angie
Guest guest
Hi Angie, Wow, this brings back memories. I have 3 daughters (youngest one (OCD) is 17 and we've had what seems like zillions of slumber parties. Swimming will be fun. You could do a scavenger hunt in the backyard with flashlights (hide items while girls are inside in the day), sidewalk chalk, decorate inexpensive pillow cases with fabric paints to dry overnight, rent videos, or paint nails. There are some good activities on the internet if you google " slumber party ideas " . Why not do some sort of cooking activity where the girls participate? They could make their own pizzas....flatten canned bisquits and spread on sauce and toppings...or do a " brownie pizza " . That's great that your daughter is wanting to have the party. Hope she has a wonderful time with her friends! Best of luck, Sallie .. <http://geo./serv?s=97359714 & grpId=90485 & grpspId=1600984290 & msg Id=51531 & stime=1155648948 & nc1=3848648 & nc2=3848445 & nc3=3> Brownie Pizza 1 15-ounce package fudge brownie mix 1-1/2 cups assorted toppings (semisweet chocolate pieces; candy-coated milk chocolate pieces; tiny marshmallows; candy bars, cut up; small gumdrops, halved) 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts Directions 1. Grease a 12-inch pizza pan. Sprinkle with the finely chopped nuts; set aside. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. 2. Carefully spread batter into prepared pan. Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 15 minutes or until edges are set. Sprinkle partially baked brownie with desired topping. (I used mini marshmallows, chopped Reese's cups and mini M & M's) Return to oven. Bake 8 minutes more or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. To serve, cut into wedges. Makes 16 servings.
Guest guest
Tshirts are always a great idea. If you have a digital camera, you can take a picture of all the girls, download it on the computer, print out iron on transfers (you can get them at Walmart in the photo section) and iron them on the shirts. You can then get puffy paint or fabric markers and let the girls decorate their shirts. They are very easy and really fun to send the girls home with. Or ... instead of tshirts you could do it with mens undershirts and make nightgowns ... more room to decorate = more time to make! Just practice once before. It is really easy. Jewelry is always fun. You can get hemp string at Walmart craft section and the little fasteners or clasps. You tie the hemp onto the fastener and add beads to make " grown up " necklaces and bracelets (as opposed to just tying elastic type string). Beads take a long time to make it " just right " ! Walmart craft section also sells " create a mug " . Those are the mugs that have slips of paper to insert and then it's like your own custom mug. They come with kind of childish inserts, so I just cut pieces of paper the same size as their inserts and leave them blank. The girls like to create their own and make their mugs. They are about $1.00 each. You can give the girls each about 3 slips of paper to make 3 different inserts. I also always let them make their own party bags just out of brown paper lunch bags. I get markers and stickers and that takes a long time. If you do a pinata or scavenger hunt or just have party favors, they can load them up in their personalized bags. You can " create a story " . Have one girl start with an idea and go around in the circle and have each one add a sentence to the story. Write it down and let the girls take it home. Turn on the music and let them dance, dance, dance! Good Luck! nglcreel <nglcreel@...> wrote: Hi everyone, Well so far so good. Guest guest
Angie- Just to add to the other great suggestions offered already... my daughter just had a slumber party for her 8th birthday and she said it was " the best ever " . The kids played in the sprinkler, had a water balloon toss, ate pizza, played a trivia game, did karaoke, played in the basement and then watched High School Musical before going to bed (at 11:30). Best Buy has great karaoke CD's for this age group. There were 10 girls and they all got along great, I had fun just watching them. Have a good time!!
