Guest guest
Hi everyone, I got back a while ago with my son, and the doctor put him on 2.5mg prozac. How in the world is this small amount going to touch him? He said he feels he definitely has bad thought ocd, but he also thinks there may be other anxiety issues and possibly bipolar also. I have to go back in 2 weeks or call if he gets worse. I wanted to thank all of you for the tremendous amount of support from you guys! I'd never make it without all of you. Hopefully soon , I can respond to my e-mail and reciprocate some of the support you all need also. thanks again so much hugs Dina <dina.n.jones@...> wrote: > Judy, good luck today. Guest guest
Hi Judy, I'm so glad you are now *past* the appt! A bit of a load off the shoulders just having the doctor agree and prescribe. Looking at the OCD Foundation site it said the range for Prozac is 5 to 60 mg/day. So you can see it varies per person as to how much might help relieve OCD. And with any medication you start and slowly build up on dosage. So next appt the doctor might up it to 5mg if things have gone OK on the 2.5mg. What's your son think about starting it? Hopefully looking forward to getting rid of those bad thoughts! > > Hi everyone, > I got back a while ago with my son, and the doctor put him on 2.5mg prozac. Guest guest
My son responded to that small dose of Prozac. Within a week, he was sleeping better, ect.. You have to start low and slow with these meds, but that doesn't mean that they won't show improvement. Do you have an appointment next week? They may increase the dose then. I know that you would wish it could disappear overnight, but you must admit that some improvement is still better than what you have dealt with lately. I'll be thinking of you.
