Guest guest
hi, I am also new, my name is Valarie, and I have 4 kids, 3 of them have immune problems. Good Job nursing!! and as long as you are ok with it, its ok. I nursed my first one 10 months, the second one 20 months(found a milk allergy the hard way when I tried to wean her at 12 months), the 3 one 16 months, the 4 one TWO AND HALF YEARS!!and yes, there was a reason, b/c I knew at some point that yr he would need a stomach surgery called a nissen(he was also FTT)but b/c of reflux. The surgery would fix his reflux, but he would need to be on all liquids for a few months, and I figured breastmilk would be the most comforting and beneficial liquid to be on!!(plus he was my baby and it was hard to let it go) and, due to his continuous illnesses, and reflux, he never slept but in 45 minute incriments for the longest time, at the last, before the surgery, he would only sleep with his back against my stomach in my bed. And he was two and a half. but, guess what? he did stop nuring w/o much struggle, and he sleeps in his own bed just fine. you and Ana will get a handle on it once the time comes. For now, if this works, let it be. She needs comfort and you are giving it to her. Trust your instincts there. What a good mom you are!!!! and 13 months isnt so old.........it just seems that way compared to a newborn. I look at my 9 yr old and WISH she was 13 months old again!!(I miss the baby hair ponytail fountains!!)
