Guest guest
Darletta: Your child's diagnosis sounds very much like my son's. After 2 years with psychologists/psychiatrists (he's on Zoloft and Abilify) we are getting ideas and help from the world of Autism. We think vaccinations is the cause of his PDD NOS/Aspergers and are treating him for heavy metal toxicity. He is getting well and the psychiatrists are reducing his meds. It's a challenging protocol, but in my opinion the meds just are bandaids on their symptoms but the biomedical protocol is healing these kids. The Autism often has symptoms that look like OCD/anxiety/depression esp. high functioning kids. Your story is just like ours. We hit an impasse with pdocs. Please research into how to get your child well. Check the Aspergers Syndrome and begin to learn about solutions others have arrived at. From there I learned that many children had been helped with a gluten free/casein free diet. I ignored that for a long time and then, in desperation to get answers, we dove in and tried it. So, I joined GFCFKids/ to help me implement the diet. There, I learned a lot of these people were going to DAN (Defeat Autism Now) doctors and many were getting a lot of help. So, we sought out a doc who is in the top of that field and went to see her in Baton Rouge, LA. So, now we are starting in on her protocol and have seen improvement already. So, I joined a group of people doing that protocol:chelatingkids2/ I'm thrilled about the progess our son has made in just 6 months and wish I had known about this at the onset--we wasted 2 important years as this is alternative medicine and the regular medical doctors know little about it. If you can find a doctor with an autistic child (as I did) they likely will tell you to dive in to the DAN! (Defeat Autism Now) medical protocol. If you will google that, you can get much info and look at webcasts as they do have conferences all over the country. Hope this helps, ago. Since then we've been in therapy and on medication. Her psychiatrist has made multiple medication changes, yet we have major struggles and new behaviors popping up. I actually just posted a list of the meds and combinations of meds we've tried. We have been in therapy the entire time as well. Her therapist uses exposure resistence therapy and cognitive behavior therapy. We made great progress the first few months, but since have had major set backs. We also started OT in December to deal with sensory issues. She currently takes Zoloft 50 mg and now the psychiatrist wants to add Geodon. It sounds so dangerous. Is it widely used in kids? Is there one antidepressent that seems to work better in treating OCD than others? My daughter has also been diagnosed with PDD/NOS (the school said she had Aspergers). She also has a diagnosis of ADD and sensory integration issues. Is treatment different when there are comorbid disorders? I am very frustrated and discouraged after such a long time in treatment and having such major issues still. Her biggest issues now are fear of any crowds and constant rubbing/wiping off on things. Thanks for any advice you can offer. Darletta
