Guest guest
I took out a book a few days ago at the library by Edna B. Foa, PH.D titled " If your adolescent has an Anxiety Disorder " ... I just love this book! Chapter 5 is devoted to OCD.. but since my son seems to have a bit of the others anxiety symptoms..(fear of flying bugs..causes lots of anxiety in him) I'm finding this book quite interesting. It seems to address everything.. this is a keeper for me! Does anyone live close to the University of Pennsylvania?? I would love to get more info on this study.. Page 115 in OCD chapter.. diagnosis and treatment... briefly.. a study was done with 112 young people, seen at 3 university centers.. " Taken together, the results from the 3 centers showed that young people did better on a combination of CBT and an SSRI than on either treatment alone. HOWEVER, for young people who were treated at the Univ. of Penn, CBT ALONE worked as well as the combined treatment. " " It then goes on to say " that almost 2/3 in both the CBT alone and combination group had few or no symptoms after 12 weeks of treatment " I am going to show this to my son's therapist tomorrow and see if she knows anything about it..
