Guest guest
: Our doctor suggested we get one for Shelby. Do you mind my asking how much we can look to spend? Your research is so appreciated -- we have no idea where to start. Thank you! Your research is so appreciated -- we have no >idea where to start. Missy, Check out the saunas from Heavenly Heat (1-800-mysauna). Bob at Heavenly Heat is very knowledgeable about saunas and will be able to give you a lot of information. I have purchased a unit from them and have been very happy with it. Heavenly Heat saunas seem to be the unit of choice for most of the environmental centers around the world that use saunas and the chemically sensitive population. They use poplar wood which offgasses less than other woods normally used. All the other units I checked out had issues (ie. hidden plywood, glues, etc) that steered me away from them. The unit I purchased is 74 " by 49 " and cost around $4,000. The American Environmental Health Foundation (aehf.com) has more information on their website. Years ago, a classical homeopath was alarmed that I rarely sweated. He said it possibly indicated over toxicity and later diagnosed the metals toxicity. Guest guest
Thank you, Gaylen. I'd never heard that before about the absense of sweating. But she definitely DOES have great difficulty detoxifying herself. I've had to remove all pigmented foods and foods high in sulpher as well as dairy, gluten, nuts, sugar, - geez, you name it. AND she's constipated so the toxins take their time getting out of her system that way, too. May I ask which side of your body you do sweat on? Sydney has had a number of " irregularities or oddities " happen on the left side of her body. And she has long been in the habit of removing only one shoe and sock - ALWAYS the left. As long as we're on the sweat issue, I found some time ago when I was very disciplined and managed to cleanse myself out through dietary intervention, I would still sweat but it never had any odor to it. Same with my bm's - no odor there either. I hope this is close enough to the detox issue to be of interest to you all. Guest guest
Hi Barb. He is 2 1/2 so he has been wal king for a while now. What leads you to believe he is working with one side of his brain only? Very interesting since he has had 3 concussions with loss of conscienceness. Have you heard of this before? He has the left shoe and sock off right now and has been this way for hours. Thanks, WendiRD

Guest guest
It probably means he's only working with one side of the brain at a time. Does he crawl with a cross pattern, or just one side, then the other? Barb Re: [ ] Re: Saunas > >Okay. I can not believe I just read this. My son always takes off his left >sock and shoe ONLY. Guest guest
This is so interesting. also had a violent near fatal reaction to his Dtp at 10 months. I have tried to get him to crawl this morning but the only time he did uit was so fast I could not tell if it was cross patterened. Any other ideas I could share with his OT, I would be very grateful. Thanks, WendiRD
Guest guest
Also, please tell me more about lecithin granuales. My son is 2 1/2 and weighs 28 lbs. for dosage info. What does this do? Thanks Again, WendiRD
Guest guest
Wendi, Have him crawl for you. He will crawl the way he did before he walked. Watch to see if his pattern is homolateral--one side at a time, or cross-pattern--opposite hand and knee. If he crawls homolaterally, he is not working across the corpus callosum very well (the connectors between two sides of the brain.) Kids who don't have a lot of connections in the middle tend to do things one-sided. How do I know? Because we did a type of therapy for our son for 5 years commonly called " patterning " and the underlying philosophy was to build new pathways through the brain. We helped a number of LD kids who were not doing much with both hemispheres. If you want more info. on this, e-mail me privately! Barb Re: [ ] Re: Saunas > >Hi Barb. I'm posting this to the group as opposed to you personally in case anybody else wants this info. The price sure is reasonable! Guest guest
This may be a sensory thing. ,who had a seizure after his DPT at three months, was hypersensitive to touch on one side of his body, and hyposensitive on the other side. Cross pattern crawling, intensive sensory therapy and lecithin granules helped him overcome this. Re: [ ] Re: Saunas > > >> >>Okay. I can not believe I just read this. Are you trained or do you take your child to them? Is it similar to OT? Do they believe in biomedical interventions as well? Guest guest
Lecithin is a source of phosphatides necessary for making acetylcholine, an neurotransmitter important in memory/concentration. These phosphatides are also necessary for making myelin. To be honest, was shaking and turning blue at the time, and I gave him the lecithin because I hoped it would prevent damage to the inside of his blood vessels from the violent vasospasms. I had no clue about the brain end of things at that time. In short-someone was looking out for Mike:) I only know that he could take the ones labeled " protein extracted 95% phosphatides " The less pure ones caused a soy allergy reaction.
