Guest guest
Hi Kim, Ben has had a variety of bad thoughts. He tends to say them fast and mumbly and in a sort of chant. And he always says " but I don't mean that " The main ones are about other people being his parents. -- " You not being my mother, but I don't mean that. " same thing with dad -- " me wanting her to be my mom, but I don't mean that. " same thing with dad -- " me kissing that girl " -- " me stabbing you with a knife " -- " me shooting you with a gun " -- " me hurting my puppy " The violent ones were occurred at the height of it all, and those left first. The kissing girls, and then sometimes later, kissing boys, then only girls. Those happened near the end. But, the ones about us not being his parents are the ones that stuck around. He is such a gentle child, all boy rough and tumble, but so sensitive and would NEVER hurt anything or anyone, and those are the most disturbing to him. he cried for 2 days when he accidentally killed a baby lizard trying to catch it. Then his bad thoughts were that he did it on purpose. These are the bad thoughts that Ben has. He is seven. I guess they would change as kids get older and have more things to feel guilty about or embarrassed of or scared about J -- Examples of " Bad thoughts " ? Hi Everyone, My daughter has been diagnosed with contamination ocd and symmetry, homework struggles etc. What about bad thoughts? What are some examples of bad thoughts? I thought hers were only about germs etc, but I think she has other bad thoughts too that she is keeping to herself? Kim M

Guest guest
That is so interesting, my son also had the kissing thoughts, both boys and girls - really on anyone who had lips. He was in the car with my dad and thought about kissing him on the lips, too. I don't think it is a " sexual " thought at all - but more of a lip fixation type of thing <lauraj2@...> wrote: Hi Kim, Ben has had a variety of bad thoughts. Guest guest
I'm a little worried it could be a precursor to sexual bad thoughts later on. My son has had little girls kiss him, mostly friends of ours girls, his age. A couple of times he was knocked down, jumped on and kissed, under much protest. And another friend of ours little girl always wants to kiss him. J Examples of " Bad thoughts " ? Guest guest
There is no use worrying about things happening now possibly being a precusor to bad thoughts later on.(Yeah right, if only it were that easy to not worry!) They will come anyway at whatever time! Better to use the experiences as exposures. Avoidance only makes it worse. My dd, Bre(15) has bad thought ocd and has had thoughts of being gay, having sex with her brother, molesting children, killing herself and others, hurting her dog, wanting to start fires, hating God(she is Christian) and any unmoral thought there is. Her therapist had her think the thoughts over and over until they become boring. She started with the least provoking anxiety ones and worked her way up. She can't prevent the thoughts from happening, but she knows how to not pay importance to them and they go away much quicker now. The thoughts she struggles with are the ones that she is totally against. On the other hand she will feel guilty when shopping, which she loves to do, that she has bought too much and that means she is selfish. So even pleasant things can be ruined by ocd guilt! The good news is she knows now that ocd thoughts cause the anxiety and she rides out the anxiety. It took alot of hard work on her part. I do feel that with age and maturity, Bre is understanding ocd more and thus handling it better too. But of course new things pop up to shake it up. The difference is she has the tools to nip it in the bud!! We both take it one day at a time. Sandy > Hi Kim, > Ben has had a variety of bad thoughts. Guest guest
Hello Kim, Our son has OCD with bad thought, checking/redoing and some mild contamination fears. He has just recently told us two of his fears and he said it helped to tell us. BT 1: If I pet the dog it means I want to eat the dog. BT 2: Something about sexual molestation - no details and he says there are no details that it is foggy and not specific. Hope this makes you feel a bit better. BTW: If you haven't gotten Dr. Chansky's books yet, I highly recommend them. - > > Hi Everyone, > > My daughter has been diagnosed with contamination ocd and symmetry, > homework struggles etc. What about bad thoughts?
