Guest guest
I have lots of friends who like Curves. I do work out - mainly the bike (can't run or do elliptical because of bad ankle), weights and Pilates. I try to work out even if I don't feel great simply because it makes me feel better, even if it makes me more tired - it's a good kind of tired. I don't work out if I'm really in pain, but if it's not too bad, I find it really helps. Plus I think it's great for your state of mind. Makes me feel less old and useless! gloria
Guest guest
Hi Joni, yes, I joined Curves also. I am 36 yrs. old and have RA, and just had GBS on Sept. 17th. I love that place!!!!! I can not do some of the legs machines, due to my right knee being bone on bone, and the 2 machines hurt my knee. I feel better after a work out, too!!! I am on Embryl for the RA, and it has worked wonders!!!!! I really feel comfortable at Curves, because it is all women, and you can just go at your own pace!!!! sherri ----- Original Message ----- From: buffster1958 Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2003 2:46 PM Subject: Any women tried "Curves"? Hi,I am usually a lurker but wanted to ask if any of the women in this group are members of the women's fitness system, "Curves." I was diagnosed with RA in February of 2003 after a bout of severe pain in many of my joints, much like what I read about from most of you all. Anyway, I take MTX (17.5 g per week w/ folic acid [1 each day]), 1200 mg of Daypro (oxaprozin) daily, and 7.5 mg prednisone daily, which I am trying to wean myself off. I am in drastic need of weight reduction, so I joined "Curves" with my daughter. I have only done two workouts and maybe it is all in my head, but I feel remarkably better and have much more energy. If anyone has any short- or long-term experience with "Curves," I'd love to hear about it. Thanks to all of you for the helpful information that I read daily. I so enjoy learning all of the new information!Joni
Guest guest
Thanks for your message, Sherri! I am glad to know that " Curves " is helping someone else!! I am 45 years old, btw, and feel very fortunate that since starting the MTX I have felt pretty " normal " most of the time. My insurance won't cover Embryl (even if it did, I have a $3K cap so it would be used up in less than 2 months), and I make too much to get any assistance. Oh well. As long as the metho works, I don't mind. I hate to be stupid, but what is GBS? Thanks, Joni > Hi Joni, yes, I joined Curves also. I am 36 yrs. old and have RA, and just had GBS on Sept. 17th.
