Guest guest
Hello all, Just thought I would clerify the agenda for the april's meeting. Some parents were confused on what the talk would be about. Jeanne Buesser President, Apraxia Network of Bergen County Outreach Coord to cherab www.apraxia.cc Robyn Merkel-Piccini of Innovative Therapists International and the Ridgefield Public Schools will discuss oral-motor disorders and therapy as it relates to the public schools. She will discuss the pros and cons of oral-motor treatment in the school delivery model in comparison to the private practice. In addition she will review parental rights in special education as it relates to the impact of oral-motor dysfunction and educational performance. Parents will learn how to incorporate goals and objectives into their child's IEP, and know their rights in obtaining services. Finally, Robyn will discuss oral-motor techniques that target " muscle-memory " which helps children with dysarthria and apraxia. Robyn's philosophies follow the Sara Rosenfeld- approach to oral-motor therapy.
