-- Hair Analysis --

We had hair analysis done on our son. It was inexpensive ($25 lab fee) and

painless (took hair close to scalp when having hair cut).

Results --- Our son had below normal levels of essential elements (calcium,

magnesium, zinc, copper, Chronium)-- we began supplementing with a liquid

multivitamin. (This may be due to his mild reflux as stomach acid is necessary

for natural absorbtion).

He was also tested for heavy metal (toxic elements) - including lead, mercury,

cadmium, arsenic, nickel. He is high in aluminum--- (vitamin c and garlic are

supposed to be " natural " ways to reduce these levels).

do any of these help supplements help? -- well I have no idea yet -- we have

been supplementing and I will follow-up in six months with more hair analysis to

see if are making progress.

Can you please let me know where you had the hair analysis done, and was it

covered by your insurance?

Thanks In Advance

Regarding hair analysis, I don't know if you can do it on your own or not.

the lab was

Omegatech

King Medical Laboratory Inc

24700 center Ridge Road Suite 113

Cleveland, Ohio 44145-5606

-- we went through a nutritionist who was able to " read " the analysis for us.

(Does your insurance provide for a nutrionist?)

We had this hair analysis done back in 97. My son is now 12 and his dx's are

ADHD, developmental coordination disorder , learning disabilities which we are

still trying to identify and apraxia. Well, the hair analysis indicated ADHD and

Chronic Fatigue at an 80 % risk level. This is what the individual levels

indicated : high levels of antimony, aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, silver, tin,

lead, copper, manganese, vanadium, boron

Low levels of magnesium

Within normal range : calcium, chromium, hair Cobalt levels, iodine levels in

the hair, selenium, sulphur

Then it goes into the other elements like sodium, potassium, iron, phosphorus,

and titanium

The way our report read was like a chart with high , low or OK levels with a

reference for me on what the norm is. It included what each of the above

chemicals are and what the hig, low or OK level indicated. For instance, it

would tell you that a high level of antimony could indicate fatigue, myopathy,

hypotension, angina and immune dysregulation. This was helpful information but

then we really didn't get a clear indication of what we were supposed to do

about it. Part of this was my fault because I only even did this outof

desperation and wasn't 100 % sure that I believed what we were being told. All

in all, the ADHD was pinned down and the fatigue I can see sometimes but I'm not

sure it gave me a very comprehensive picture or one that we could really work

with. Sorry to get so lengthy but I wanted to give you a picture of what our

testing was like as I guess they are generally all done the same way. Hope this

helps,

We haven't had it down on our son (yet), but I have

heard that a hair analysis alone does not provide a

full picture, especially when testing for heavy

metals. Usually, hair, blood and urine are all

examined at the same time.

Thanks, I found the other post and copied the information from there.

Robyn

Robyn, I posted an earlier message about our experience. It was done at the

Environmental & Preventive Health Center here in Atlanta by a Dr.

Edelson.
