Guest guest
Hi everyone, I agree, Jay, that stress causes flares. About a month ago, I began to alternate 3mg/4mg of prednisone. 3 days after I started I met with my boss to have my annual evaluation. It is a very long story, but I was fired on 8/11 (I run a small non-profit in my county.) 48 hours later I was reinstated because the 14 members of my board threatened to resign (note: this is the 1st non-profit endeavor for my boss). Even though I was reinstated, I could no longer have the same passion and happiness with my job (and my boss). In the community mobilization work I do, passion and motivation are often the key to being successful. So, after 26 months as the Coordinator of Fauquier County's Promise -- The Alliance for Youth, my last day is tomorrow. When some of my partners heard, they offered me positions at their organizations. On Monday I start as the Childrens Services Coordinator at the county homeless shelter. And yesterday I celebrated my 26th birthday. Anyway, all this stress has thrown me into a full blown flare. My rheumy advised me to take a few days off but I can't. My normally optimistic attitude has often been cynical, sad and angry over the past few weeks. Thanks for listening to my ramble. Please keep me in your thoughts as I begin a new chapter in my life. Guest guest
HI TAMMY, I SOO AGREE. SOMETIMES WHEN I'M STRESSED W/ FAMILY,KIDS OR OTHER PROBLEMS MY RA GETS SO BADDDDDD!!!! MY RHEUMMY ALWAYS TELLS ME TO RELAX & JUST LET IT GO... HOPE U FEEL BETTER SOON, TAMMY. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. GOD BLESS,MELYNDAGAMEZ 8/29/08 8:55P.M.CT [ ] Stress & RA In regards to the link between stress and RA, I fully concur! When I went to India in May, 2003 to adopt my daughter, I had no symptoms of RA. The trip was stressful and I got very ill while over there. My daughter was 2 1/2 yrs. old and the trip home and first several months were very difficult for her and us. By November, I had my RA. So, I've always felt that the stress of that adoption or my illness over there had something that " jump started " my RA. Our 1st adoption, again from India, in 1999 was much less stressful, not to mention I was younger, LOL. Guest guest
Tammy, I lived in Bangladesh for a short time. It was very stressful, and I always wondered if that trip didn't screw up my immune system. Love to hear you have your two girls, I know they are very beautiful. Take care, Tawny > > > In regards to the link between stress and RA, I fully concur! When I went to India in May, 2003 to adopt my daughter, I had no symptoms of RA. Guest guest
Thank you Shirley, My girls are our blessing. It was an amazing journey and I fell in love with India. Not sure how I'll handle it health wise, but I hope to take my girls back to India when they are older. They may have to wheel me around though, lol.
