I haven't had a Baker's cyst but I have had synovial cysts on my wrists that I think are similar. I had one removed last year because my rheumatologist thought it might be causing problems with a tendon. The orthopedic surgeon said the tendon was in good shape and the operation was not required for that reason but it would eliminate the problems from pain associated with touching the cyst. I also read somewhere that gentle massage would reduce the size of a synovial cyst and I tried that with one and had some success. I've got another cyst one on my elbow but it doesn't bother me so I leave it alone.

I found a ton of sites by using Google to search for "Baker's cyst" and this one may be helpful to you. http://uwcme.org/courses/rheumatology/knee/bakers.html

I guess you've got about a month before your first appointment with a rheumatologist. Good luck and God bless.

Subject: Cysts and Falling

My Doc told me I had a Baker's Cyst on the back of my knee. He didn't offer any remedy for it or expound on it. Is any one familiar with this phenomena?Tonight I was standing on one foot taking off my sock from the other foot and my knee just folded and down I went. It was the knee that gives me alot of pain and problems. Is this something else to look forward to?Jay
