Guest guest
:-) Is it something like weapons-free duty? We have that in Sweden too. If I was called to service - and not as physically disabled as I am now - I would choose that option. Guest guest
Oh, I saw that now. (Mails get sorted in threads in my inbox but sometimes messages end up where I miss them.) Cool that you met your husband there. You believe it was destiny or luck? Inger Re: Knota Hippie > Toni: "Air Force Reserves" Thank you. Guest guest
I was asking Toni, but I was glad to hear of your choice too. Though everyone keeps saying that anyone will kill under certain circumstances, I truly don't think that I could. Since I am not afraid of dying, I think I would prefer to die myself before taking the life of another. I can only hope that I'll never be in a situation where I have to make that decision. Guest guest
Wow, that's a good one! Guest guest
Mmmmmmm maybe I should rephrase; most would kill under extreme circumstances? I also wonder of those who are sure they would not kill - have you ever got angry? - had any outburst of violence at any time?, when you were a child? > > I was asking Toni, but I was glad to hear of your choice too. > > Though everyone keeps saying that anyone will kill under certain circumstances, I truly don't think that I could. Guest guest
Rainbow, that is too funny... Guest guest
: > Mmmmmmm maybe I should rephrase; most would kill under extreme circumstances? Fine, since " most " is not = ALL. > I also wonder of those who are sure they would not kill I said I didn't THINK I would be able to. > - have you ever got angry? - had any outburst of violence at any time?, > when you were a child? Rarely and not nearly enough to kill anyone. Only acts of violence that I can recall, I'm sure I've mentioned before: a) hammering on my sister a bit when she was particularly annoying and truly asking for it (however, she was practically impervious to physical pain, stronger than me and mostly seemed to just enjoy the attention); slapping a bully in the face, and then - when I found how effective that was - giving another couple of bullies similar treatment when they pushed my limits a bit too far; c) kicking a stranger in the chin and giving another a box on the ear when they took the liberty of pinching my bottom; d) giving my then bf a black eye when he was provoking me at the wrong time and we'd both been drinking. (He gave me one back, and then we had a good laugh about it.) Now I can at most get a bit miffed and it usually passes within seconds. Only exception being if my computer is giving me trouble when I have PMS. :-) I don't see what this has to do with killing. IF I ever was in a position where I had to defend myself, it would be out of fear, not anger. I think it is quite possible that some even if they are mild mannered etc could one day just snap and go berserk - it does happen - I am saying it is a possibity not a certainty. Guest guest
Some have phlegmatic temperaments and are more unlikely to resort to violence when provoked, whereas others have rather volatile tempers and short fuses. There are a numerous causes for aggression, ranging from innate temperament to stress, hormones, brain damage in the parts of the brain that control impulses, solvents, diet, steroids, drugs, full moon, mass hypnosis, learned behavior etc etc etc. I try to be careful to use absolute statements about myself, but if someone else feels they know themselves well enough to be that sure, I see no reason to disbelieve them or question their statement. Can we PLEASE change the subject now? Inger Re: Knota Hippie " I don't see what this has to do with killing. But (these days especially) peoples' consciences are damaged and wicked forces and other things seem to be taking this natural wall away. I've also heard stories about children in gangs and otherwise who have killed or been shot and honestly didn't made the connection between shooting and killing/dying. One boy who was shot said right before he died, " I didn't think it would hurt. "
