Stacey, I too am from Atlanta and I know what you mean about the

snow. I live in Dekalb County and the schools here weren't open this

week anyway so it didn't affect my son's school. He goes back on Jan.

8th and, boy, am I ready !!! He got out on Dec. 21st so we're running

real low on ideas to keep things interesting.

What neurologist do you see ? We are going for our first neurological

evaluation on the 29th with a Dr. Schub- have you heard of

him ? My son is 12 and does not have speech apraxia. We have more of

the motor planning issues . In fact, we've only had this dx. since

last September so I'm just starting to refocus my efforts as we've

always been told ADHD was the main issue. Now, we have ADHD,

developmental dyspraxia and non-verbal learning disabilities which

we're working reaaly hard on getting identified.

Glad to meet another Atlantan. Do you know of any parents locally

whose children have more of the motor planning apraxia than the

speech ? ,

Hey ,

I know Dr. Schub. He is in the same office as our neurologist- Dr. Flamini.

They are a very busy group. I haven't heard anything specific about him so I

don't have much to report. They have a lot of doctors there and I think they

see alot of children in the Atlanta area.

I am pretty new to the list here so I hae not yet met any other Atlantans. My

little boy is 2 1/2 and we are really just getting started on the road. We live

in ville- he opposite side from you but I'd love to hear from you. Email

me any time the mood strikes. Let me know it goes at the doctor's office

Liz, that is a great site !!! Thank you for sharing that with all of us.

I have a question about the PROEFA's. Have you heard of anyone taking those for

the motor planning issues ? My son has never had speech problems although, in

recent months, I have started to recognize articulation problems but only with

a few words. I don't know if you saw an earlier post where I gave a brief intro

but I mentioned that I had recently gotten funding from the school for alot of

outside evaluations because the school evals. have been so shoddy. He has an IEP

coming up on Jan. 17th and speech therapy will be one of the issues. We were

wating until the CAPD testing was complete until we

( us and our attorney ) pushed for that. I wondered if the PROEFA's were for

kids who had more of the motor planning issues than the speech ones.
