hi nelson (et al),

i am belatedly responding to your request for feedback about the site, "thinkpoz".

i have found it to be interesting, worthwhile, etc, but do have one "complaint" (for lack of a better term).

i was attempting to use the feature by which we are supposed to invite others to join. to put it mildly, the feature is very poorly designed.

there is supposedly a limit to the number of people you can invite, but if you import your address book, there is then no way to check off whom you want to include from the list and whom you want to exclude. at some point i gave up and decided to exit from the feature, only to discover that the site had then sent to every single person in my address book an invitation to join the site. since i was out as an hiv+ person on the site - thereby outing myself inadvertently to everyone in my entire address book. this was not okay with me, since i have people from all walks of my life in my address book, so i immediately deleted my profile and put up another one that was more anonymous. (the one friend who joined at that time as a result of my invitation, who is hiv- but joined out of solidarity with me because she thought i intended to invite her in and already knew about my condition, found me anyway by doing a

search under my first name, since the link that came in my email didn't work - obviously, since i had deleted that profile.)

when i wrote to the site administrators about my experience and my concerns about it, they didn't even bother to respond. frankly, considering what the site is supposed to be about, i found their apparent lack of concern and lack of attention to the matter grossly insensitive.

i still participate, but keep my guard up regarding what the site supposedly does and does not do, and don't use features about which i have any reservations whatsoever.
