Guest guest
I just had to post some good news. This is the background information. I have 5 year old twin girls. , with mild apraxia and no other problems, and with severe apraxia, SID, and other problems from brain damage. qualifies for special ed, and only qualifies for speech. Anyway, according to our school district would not be able to attend our local school for kindegarten because of her special ed status. At the girls latest IEP, they in order for the girls to go to the same school would have to transfer to another school, and they only do transfer for things like being close to a parents work or moving. They wouldn't automatically transfer to 's school. Needless to say, I've been a bit devastated by all of this. Well, yesterday I went to register both girls for kindegarten. Low and behold, the school that we want to send to is a list of non- neighborhood schools that can attend. All I had to do was sign up, and now she is set to go to the school we will request for . is currently not placed in a school until after her IEP this spring. I am very glad about this. I would like to be in a regular kindegarten class, and I want the girls to be in the same class. 's handled being in a regular preschool, and I think she can handle regular kindegarten. The girls have been in a separate preschool class this year (long story about this), and it has been a problem for all year. She misses . Both girls are very clingy to me (and each other). I think they'll have a much easier transition to kindegarten if they are in the same class. Sorry for the long post, but I am very happy about this.
