Oleander plants originally came from Australia when I was a boy in the 50's. They are widely used in landscapes in CA, NM, AZ, TX and the southern states.

Landscape people are careful with these plants in pruning as they can produce fever and rashes eating them would surely lead to death.

Oleanders are very poisonous and that is a fact.
