We still do not know what the heck she is majoring in but I guess some day we will find out (may graduation day LOL). How are you doing? I hope you are doing ok. Poor a is not doing so hot I see. Those dang flares. I have visions of someday somebody finding a cure for all of us. Wouldn't that be a miracle? Jeannette

Guest guest
Welcome back, Jeannette! Yes, of course I remember you. Glad you had such a nice party and that is safely off to school again. What year is she? Hope your liver test results come back normal so that you can stay on the MTX. A sunny day to you, too! ----- Original Message ----- From: <ednettieolson@...> <RA-Supportegroups> Sent: Monday, August 28, 2000 10:34 AM Subject: [ ] Hello Again! > Hello Group: > > Do you remember me? Guest guest
Hi, Jeannette! I can't complain too much over here. I'm a little bit more fatigued than usual, but a lot of things have been going on. The flares stink. I hope a and everyone who is in one right now comes out of them very soon! A cure is a great miracle to wish for. ----- Original Message ----- From: <ednettieolson@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, August 28, 2000 11:47 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Hello Again! > Hi : > > Nice to talk to you again too. is in her 3rd year of college. My rheumatologist RECOMMENDED glucosamine/chondroitin (for my osteoarthritis) and said that one fish oil capsule is about the same as taking an aspirin tab as far as anti-inflammatory benefit. (That's not been my experience.) He told me to steer clear of ginseng and echinacea as they are both immune system stimulants. Guest guest
Hi J Sala: Great attitude! And shopping cures many ills - except that now I'm trying to clear out all the stuff accumulated in my house collected over too many years of shopping trips!! As far as the chondroitin and fish oil capsules go - why not take them? If they are helpful to you, I say do what feels right. I am a great believer in taking everything the doctor says with a grain of salt. I often do what I feel what is right for my body despite what a doctor who sees me once every 3 months may have to say about it. He's not living in here!! But now I do have a rheumy who is very sensitive and accepting of my thoughts and I feel that we approach my case together. She really listens to me and is supportive of any kind of alternative thing I may want to try. And I'm sure that if she doesn't approve of some course of action, she would say so. It is refreshing to have a doctor that one can really tell everything to! But it sounds good that you are doing more tests to actually determine what you may have. No point in going down this road if RA is not what you have. Good luck to you! and hope you find fun stuff on the Internet. gloria
Guest guest
Jsala, I have had RA for 7 years and been thru many docs and many drugs. I am now off ALL meds except anti-inflammatory. I take a lot of Vitamin C, a lot of fish oil, and chicken cartilage. I am doing very well and in almost no pain after going thru a lot. Be proactive and do your own research. Glucosamine and condrotin are for osteo arthrthitis I was told and decided that was true after it did not help me much with rheumatoid arthritis. Good luck to you.. Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: jsala Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Saturday, January 03, 2004 10:00 PM Subject: hello again! Hi everyone,I had my first visit to my rheumatologist yesterday. Basically he is not totally convinced that I have RA. He feels that many primary care doctors when they see a middle aged woman with joint pain--that they use the term RA without a full medical evaluation. So he is doing more blood tests (CPK, TSH, repeat Sed Rate) and a Urinalysis. I go back until the end of the month.I did ask him about the condrotin and the fish oils--he kind of laughed and told me to stay away from those things. I wasn't sure if he was serious or not...I plan to ask him again at my next visit and I am going to keep taking them until he can give me a serious reason why I shouldn't.I am starting to "flare" again. And a cold front is moving into Pennsylvania--temps will be in the teens so I'm sure I'll be in some major pain. I have been doing some shopping on the internet and ordered some magazines to keep my mind "off" the pain. No one told be that RA could be hazardous to my credit card!!!Take care,J Sala
Guest guest
-Happy Anniversary to you and your husband it sounds like you had a great time. It sounds like your kids really showed you a good time. I hope all is well with you and your family. I go to the Cancer Center on Friday to have them do the first pcr test there. I'm sure it will differ from MDACC because of different labs used. My appt with the Dr. is Oct. 14 I'm sure my results won't be in then. I will have to keep calling and asking if they are back yet. One thing I like about MDACC is Dr. Faderl calls me himself in the evening to give me my results, and the one in July only took 5 days to come back. I will post my results to the group when I get them.
