Has anyone on here had experience with a product called MaxGXL.

(http://www.maxgxl.com) It claims to be a more effective way to achieve

Glutathione absorbtion into the body. I don't know much about

suplicments and would be appreciative if someone knowledgeable in this

area could give me their opinion of the product. Thanks. Sid

Hey Sid,I think improving glutathione levels is an important part of HIV care. (And hepatitis C.) Glutathione is NAC-glycine-glutamic acid, a "tripeptide."This product has ingredients that can help to that, particularly the NAC, alpha lipoic and milk thistle. However, it is $85.00 for a 30-day supply or even $69 if you get it monthly.ThiolNAC has 500 mg of NAC and 200 mg of lipoic per tablet and a month's supply is $14. Milk Thistle is about $12. The other ingredients are nice but the C is low and you can get in a multi. Glutamine is good and can help the guts. The "rate-limiting" step in glutathione synthesis is the cysteine, and N-acetyl-cysteine is the best form for that. (Also, Droge and his group in the 90s noted a massive loss of sulfur in HIV+ people, largely due to a reduced cysteine level; cysteine is a sulfur-containing amino acid.)In short, not a bad product in terms of ingredients. Way overpriced. And uncertain about the quality.Hope that helps! M.
