I feel like ground hog day, the movie, part II

I have gone through two lower back laminectomies in 60 days, three courses of corticoid steroids, a false infection scare that made me spend 4 days in the hospital (no infection found), two MRIs, one CT scan, and I still have more pain than before the first surgery. I am laying on my back with my laptop most of the days (3 months now) and can drive some and walk for 5 min at a time before the pain in my left leg drives me nuts. I have been on vicoden, lyrica, ultram, steroid shots and medrol pack, inversion therapy, icing, heating, massage , chiropratic, accupunture, etc. I have added bills and the total cost is around $85,000 so far.

This is by far the biggest challenge ever for me. Who would have thought that a non AIDS thing would eventually get me? I am now becoming obsessed with learning about pain management issues and have learned how difficult neurosurgeons with an ego can be to try to make you wait long before they refer you to a pain management doctor. I will see one tomorrow for the first time in three months. I may go for a nerve block to see if I can fly to London to present my poster at the Lipodystrophy conference with results of the survey that you guys helped me create. They accepted my presentation but now I am wondering if I will make it there. But I am still hopeful even though it is a few days from now. They gave me a full scholarship to attend and I would hate not to go.

I am sorry I am venting to all of you. Well, at least I am pain free when I lay down and I am blessed to have my laptop and wi fii to remain productive. Even though I have canceled six lectures and my attendance to the poz cruise, I am keeping myself sane by writing my second book, helping Dr Scally with his two books, and launching my first formulation to the market ( i will send the press release today). I figured I could chose to be a friend of my present moment or be an enemy of it (like tolle's book says). I could feel self pitty or make the best of the present moment just like many before me and many who are bed ridden or in wheel chairs being productive.

I have received so many sweet emails from so many of you, and that really brightens my days...so thank you. This list makes me feel that I can be productive even in downtimes.
