Guest guest
I have a 14 year old son, diagnosed with Dyspraxia and non progressive muscle weakness which negativley impacts his handwriting. I suspect he has Dyslexia also as he has every characteristic that goes along with Dyslexia. He is having a full comprehensive evaluation...again.....and our LEA representitive has told us at our IEP meeting yesterday that Dyslexia is NOT a learning disability. Can anyone tell me if this statement is correct? We live in Vermont. I am just about at my wits end with this special education process. It has been a fight for my son for 9 years. The school has made so many mistakes that I really don't trust them....and the sad part is, I also have an 8 year old on an IEP diagnosed with Dyspraxia also. I am not a quitter, but I sure am getting fed up with the " slick " talking of so-called educators who are out for the almighty buck and NOT the the child. Thanks for letting me vent!! ....mom to 3 great kids!!

It's quite an 'academic read' but very positive in expaining differences in visual thinkers as opposed to 'normal' linguistic thinkers. from the jacket reviews I quote " West...claims that visualization is not only a legitimate way to solve problems, it is a superior way; the best minds have used it. West urges us you join the dyslexics of the world and use pictures instead of words...
