Guest guest
Carole, My daughter has a choking problem connected at least in part to the apraxia she has. I am told that she cannot feel the food in her mouth and doesn't chew it well enough before she swallows. But she actually chokes the worst on thin liquids, such as water. We recently had a swallow study done and it did reveal that liquids are pooling in the back of her mouth where her epiglottis and vilium overlap. Apparently, most infants outgrow this situation by a year old but my daughter is almost 5 and still has this problem. When she sleeps, she sometimes has choking/coughing spells too which the SLP tells me is all connected to the throat problem and the apraxia. Email me privately if you wish. Tammy Tammy_S68@...
