Guest guest
Traci, First of all, good luck and congratulations on your decision to use a fish oil supplement for your son. Our son is on Omega3 from Epic4health.com and has perfect speech now. He also has no joint pain and has the ability to run, which he never had while we were buried in the nightmare of Apraxia. Zach takes one 3000 mg capsule at breakfast and another at dinner. He began Omega3 on March 1st and on March 7th his speech teacher sent home a sheet with, " !! " written across the top. Of course she assumed she was the miracle worker and we had to burst her bubble and tell her that it was the supplement and not her " expert " abilities that gave our son the capabilities of speech, however, the outcome is that Zach is as normal as any 7 year old boy can be. Thank God. I never thought I would pray for normal for my son, and now I find that normal is quite good. In the beginning we had a brief bout of sleeplessness with Zach, but as soon as he realized he could run and skip and leap through life, he overcame the sleeplessness with pure, sweet exhaustion. If you are concerned with possible side effects that your son cannot communicate to you, go on it with him. I did. I found no ill side effects, actually, there were no side effects at all for me. It was reassuring to know what he was experiencing along the way with him. Zach happily takes his pills every day. It has become common place for him. He calls the pills his miracle pills. So do we. We did give the pills a test once and had Zach stop taking them. It was very scary. In 3 days we noticed a difference in his speech and his frustration and the 4th day he had almost regressed back to the point he had been at before the supplements began. That was enough for us. He has never been off them since. When he is older and the speech patterns have been set, we may try it again. We're not sure. If it is a lifetime dedication, we are willing to do that too. Good luck and please let me know if you need any more information. It is a long and scary journey that we are all on with our children, but, a very necessary one too. michele
Guest guest
I started my son, age 9, on ProEFA four days ago. I have only been giving him one capsule with his evening meal. The first time, he was able to swallow it, but had quite a bit of trouble. Now I've poked a hole in it and mixed with applesauce, pudding, or yogurt. Is one 1000 mg capsule enough? If 2 capsules are given, can they be given at the same time? Which is better, morning or night dosage? Is sleeplessness a concern? He already has difficulty sleeping, not more than 7 hours per night. Thanks, Traci Hug Mom of
Guest guest
I gave ProEFA at nite for a couple of days and we had a hard time getting him to sleep. Now we only give it in the morning. One capsule is probably good to start off on. Wait and see for a little while before you increase dosage [ ] ProEFA Dosage Is one 1000 mg capsule enough? Guest guest
Traci, My 8 year old son (70lbs) takes 4 ProEPA daily (each 1000 mg). Our naturalpath told me it is ok to give two at a time and that the body metabolizes it better during the daytime; so I'd try and have them all in his system by 3pm. I don't know if 4 are better than 2 so to speak; I think Dr. Dramov just wants to stabilize my son's system since he's been deficient for so long. His teacher and I noticed some huge differences on just 2 per day. I don't think they would effect sleep, especially if you give them during the earlier day hours. Hope this helps some, Tammy [ ] ProEFA Dosage I started my son, age 9, on ProEFA four days ago. I have only been giving him one capsule with his evening meal. Guest guest
I had assumed meant .5ml, but I just called Nordic Naturals, but got customer service voice mail. I left a message so we'll see if I get a call back. If I do I'll let you guys know what I found out. Thanks Wendie > I would not think that is right. 5 ml = 1 teaspoon. That would mean if your child weighed 25 pounds you would give them 25 ml (5 teaspoons). I would double check with Nordic Naturals, I tried to call them but unfortunately they are closed right now. Their number is 1-800-662-2544. > Re: [ ] ProEFA Dosage > > > Wendie: > > I just got off the phone with nordic naturals. He told me 5ml. per 5 lbs. > So if your child weighed 10lbs. you would give 10ml. 2x a day. > > in Phoenix
