Guest guest
Hi ! Something that's got Omega 3/6 in it that's food? You've got my vote! I found another kind of spread like the one you mentioned which also does sound good in theory http://www.smartbalance.com/product.html http://www.eggland.com/ is an egg (eggland's best) they have here in the US that has Omega 3 in it. OK so you can cook with the " butter " or the eggs, but then look at this from the EyeQ site about EFA oil (don't know if this goes for Omega 3 in oil or eggs): " One important point: do not use the oil in cooking. Excessive heat will damage the delicate oil, and its effectiveness. " http://www.equazen.com/qa_swallow.htm Raw eggs or butter from the tub...don't think so for more than one reason! (also between raw eggs, lard and fish oil isn't much of an choice!) My background is as an inventor and so as tough a challenge as it is to make something like fish oil taste good, people who can make it happen will try thanks to inventors -and it looks like it's happening, in some strange places too. There's Omega 3 cereals like http://www.foodbydesign.com/ That's not as strange as fish oil ice cream though is it?! http://www.newswise.com/articles/2001/7/FISHOIL.ADL.html- http://www.adltechnology.com/press/fishoil.htm (there are lots out there about the fish oil ice cream -this last one is fish oil ice cream with a reference to Dr. Stoll in it) http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/aug2001/nf2001089_195.htm and even a company that has a product geared to any food companies that want to say their food products contain Omega 3 http://www.omea-pure.com/label.htm A very cool article from October 2001 (so we may be seeing more and more of these fishy foods going ahead in the next four years) is here http://www.umass.edu/newsoffice/archive/2001/100301Mackerel.html " The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is providing almost a $1 million to UMass over four years for this project, and nearly as much over the same period divided among the University of Connecticut, Pennsylvania State University, and Harvard University Medical School. " (where Stoll MD the " Omega 3 Connection " book author is who is on the board for CHERAB) I know that one company in Canada is working on a powder that is supposed to be odorless and tasteless to add to any food or drink - Rhonda or I can find out when they will have that ready-and if it's an Omega 3/6 or just Omega 3. That's the thing-most are only talking about DHA and EPA (Omega 3), and I know for my son Tanner and " most " other children with speech issues-it's the Omega 3/6 formulas that work anecdotally. Keep in mind however-once again, fish oil is not just for children. It's healthy for us (grown ups) too. I know my hair is shinier since I've been taking it -and my memory is almost back to pre-babies (you moms know what I mean) And I only took it because my dad died of a heart attack at 56 which was horrible, so as a prevention thing. (Good side effects on top of that, great fringe!) I personally can't wait till they figure out how to put all the Omega 3/6 that's helping so many children speak into food. For more than one reason. Seeing how great it's worked for so many " late talking " or apraxic children, and us, the parents, I can't wait till it's in stuff like ice cream and all so that I can stop hearing so many saying their child's doctor wonders about fish oil like it's some kind of drug. It's a food supplement-I just can't wait till it's a food. Then it will be silly to say " Dr. is it OK to give Molly eggs from Eggland's Best? " Or " loves fish oil Ice Cream? Should I switch him to a brand without fish oil anyway? " I'm sure it will just get better-the more awareness there is, the more research-you know it's all going to point the same way-it's good stuff. And keep in mind, as great as it is, again-it's just got to be impossible for it to " work amazing " for every child with a speech challenge-it anecdotally works for most however. You have to look at the whole not the parts. For those of you who have support groups- like we do here in NJ, poll your members-people you know and see. That's what will make you see it even before you see if yourself- which is even more amazing than anyone could tell you. OK-so did anyone try the fish oil ice cream yet? (I'm not first) =====
Guest guest
For a listing of foods with omega-3s for those of us in Canada, check out this link: http://www.flaxcouncil.ca/fdprind.htm I've been buying the omega-3 eggs (no , I do not eat them raw), also frozen toaster waffles.
