Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been skimming a book called Smart Fats that discusses the various fatty acids and components and their functions and I have a question.....(well many really, but I'll try to stick to one-the more I read in the book, the more questions arise.....) It mentions that flax and borage oils are good choices for EFA's, but as has been pointed out, are less effective in the direct conversion to DHA. DHA needs to come from fish oil, or algae. Is anyone using algae as a source of DHA? I ask b/c it also cautions against using fish oil in infants and young children b/c they have to consume too much EPA to get the DHA and there's a link there to growth problems. Right now I'm giving Grace Barlean's Omega Twin-Lignan rich Flax/Borage oil primarily b/c it meets all the criteria for choosing a quality oil and it's in liquid form for her gtube. I'm seeing an increase in alertness and muscle tone, I'm just curious if I should pursue algae DHA as well......Thanks Jen mama2Grace PRS/Moebius
