Guest guest
I would try your son in kindergarten. The public schools are required to provide whatever resources a disabled child needs. (ie my son has a mentally disabled child in his class and the school had to provide an aid to stay with him, special education and allow him to participate as much as possible with his own class). Kindergarten is only 1/2 day and not a whole lot more is expected than pre-school. Show up at various unexpected times and see how your son is doing. If his needs are not being met talk to the teacher and if that doesn't work request an IEP meeting to come up with a new plan that will work for your son. My friend whose apraxic son started Kindergarten this year showed up a few times and realized her son was being pulled out of class for ST at the same time the rest of the class was working on beginning sounds (something he should not be missing of course). She expressed concern and now his ST works with him right after Kindergarten instead. Remember public schools are supported by your tax dollars and your son has a right to receive an education.
