Guest guest
I have often thought about that, too. I guess the word " apraxia " did not exist???? My father-in-law said he did not talk until he was 5 and was in speech. Now that was 60 some years ago and that is why he said that they called him Dutch. His name is and no one could understand him- therefore the nickname...My husband was in speech until 6th grade for articulation problems, but again that was 30 years ago so maybe it was not just articulation and really oral motor stuff going on, too? Now my twins are apraxic and my 6 yr old goes to speech for artic and when I had him privately evaled they said it was a " muscle based articulation disorder " ---although not apraxia the SLPs say...but would like him to do oral motor exercises along with the artic stuff.....Any ideas???
